I agree Harry, Butt is mostly poor with very little to offer bar the odd tackle.

Spot on. Owen is simply a reputation & hype. He's a name, not a brilliant player. And the thing is he did have chances, again, today- but hes simply not this finisher he's hyped up to be. People really need to realise what he actually is and not be sucked into the rubbish Owen hype. He's not the worst player ever obviosuly. But 'lethal finisher', 'world class striker' 'give him a chance and he'll put it away striker'? Its hype, and hype only & not the truth. Get rid asap. Is there something you're basing this on?

just an opinion, but I think if Cacapa had played at the back instead of Faye, we would have lost Agree entirely with this, but it wasn't the only way Allardyce could have gone. Faye has won me over in the last few games, both in midfield and at the back. I'm very happy we have him. Taylor is - and always has been despite a few flaws in his game and a few mistakes at times - a top young player for the club and will be hopefully for his whole career. He's every bit as promising as Moncur was at the same age, in different ways. It's a shame we haven't got two Fayes really, because he's looked our best centre-half and central-midfielder when he's played. Just hope that Senegal in particular do terribly at the ACN, because with our upcoming games and the lack of Beye and Faye at the back in particular, we're going to be in for some fucking hammerings. Faye has been immense in either role.

You must be watching his twin brother. If you want to look at the modern DM you can't go far wrong with the likes of Mascherano, Alonso, Carrick, Barry (sometimes). There is a reason they have become as expensive as top tier strikers over the last decade, the role is now much more mulit-skilled. They often like Essien or Obi rotate and play the 3rd phase (final pass). This means when the AM is blocked they know when to take up positive space. Butt is alright but we need someone else next year. nb F is keeping Gilberto out cause he has more movement and a bigger engine. Flamini rotates better with Cesc whereas Gilberto is often much more holding.

I'm gonna go with the first six points you've made here and let's see if someone like Makelele passes your test. Can he pass? No. He makes two yard passes to Lampard then drops back. Does he have an engine? No. His game is more to do with anticipation, very much similar to Butt's. Does he have pace? No. Like Butt. Is he tiny? Yes. Does he have any hair? No. Are his legs little? No. Makalele at certain points in his career has been world class. And he has the ability to grow hair.

Couldn't agree more. Like I said when the players can't even control the ball adequately, how the hell is the manager responsible for such a shit performance? Can't control a ball you won't be able to pass it. Furthermore if you have no mobility up front how the hell are we meant to put teams on the backfoot. Further on, without any creativity in the middle, how the hell are we meant to create chances? It's all fucked up, this team. Individually we have some decent players and the squad is strong in terms of numbers and experience but it lacks balance and options. We're a limited team and that's being reflected in performances. I thought the manager got pretty much everything spot on tonight and can be pleased with a clean sheet and a replay given how shite the players were, note I said players!!! Been saying it for months. We need to invest. You nicked it from me.
