Just looks like their SPL run was an aligning of stars considering they've reunited in Saudi and not exactly set the league alight. I don't blame Villa for taking the punt at the time as you're only going to know for certain if the SPL success would translate by giving them a shot. I haven't been able to catch a replay of the match yet but watching the goals it's so satisfying to watch AG make use of him. It's been a bit frustrating at times seeing him make a good run and get ignored by someone favouring to just cut inside or pass to someone a less threatening position. Hopefully this is the realisation of how far he could go in replacing Trips's attacking contribution.

I'm sure I've said before but I think that they're going to be a massively complimentary pairing for us and England long term. Tino offering the defensive steel while Hall goes forward, but neither being a big liability going the other way so they can swap that role from time to time to keep opponents on their toes. The way Hall plays he's going to get the plaudits but I hope it doesn't lead people to think Tino is a disappointment by comparison as he's still on course to be a fantastic player, just in a different mould.

Get him back in a hybrid Head Coach-DoF role. Alternate head coach yearly with Eddie and then be DoF on his 'off' season. Get Little Dan back at the centre of the wheel to alternate with Rafa when he's on his coaching season. Couldn't be simpler.
