  1. Would rather just that they fine tune the way VAR is used to get a more fair judgment of the game tbh. Lots of things that worked fine before has been improved by technology and this will too eventually.
  2. I don't think it was just a case of pretending. With Rafa we had a crucial and powerful force within the club fighting against that current, that gave us a hope and a stake. This is it for me as well. When Rafa was here I knew he would fight for the sporting side of club with tooth and nail, he understood the fans and had the necessary leverage to force Ashley to go against his will. With the way he saved the club and built a bridge between the club and fans again I thought there was no way Ashley would be so stupid to gamble on not retaining him and eventually cave in to Rafas demands re: training facilities and transfer policy but for the umpteenth time I underestimated his ego. If Rafa couldn't force a change with the leverage and support within the club he had then nobody can. It has to be us fans that does it, and the only way to do it is to abandon the club until he hasn't got a choice but sell. Good results are only hindering the progress of the club so I'm just annoyed when we win or draw.
  3. Not a problem since everyone captained him this week.
  4. Yup, imagine the fight Rafa must have had to convince LC and MA to spend that money on him because of his age.

    St James' Park

Perfect example of short-termism from the council
  6. It could have gone worse. You could have gotten fewer votes than Paulie Belta.

    England

Good solution imo. Tickets were free as well and they brought a lot of kids in through charity organisations who normally wouldn't have been able to go to a match.
  8. I think they are pretty similar players, but I also think they should work well in Rafas system since they seem to be decent all-rounders, being able to support an attack, play a killer pass, have a decent shot in them, press the ball and fall back. As long as they have a good understanding of covering each other I don't see what the issue with them being similar is.

    Transfer rumours

Would be fun to see him on the right wing again to make space for Joelinton.
  10. First time ever that I've occupied 1st place in the N-O league I think Not bad that the top 2 are Norwegians.

    Joelinton

Wasn't aware of that, but yeah, then it's definitely the case. Afaik Shelvey is reportedly on ~80k a week.
  12. Imagine if consumers collectively realized how much power they actually had and refused to pay for tv-subscription, tickets, merchandise until it was at a more reasonable level. I don't think there's many people out there who doesn't think footballers are over paid and out of touch with the fans, or people that think tickets and tv subscriptions are reasonably priced, agents in general are whores, leadership is corrupt etc. It would all come to a quick end if no money came in, and it would force a change for the better in the long run. In a way Newcastle is a micro version of football as a product these days. A great majority thinks giving it up won't help because there's so many others that are not prepared to give it up, so it ends up that you just eat the shit you get served because it's better than nothing, kinda.

    Joelinton

He's most likely closer to 100k a week than 50k, if not more.
  14. Exactly Baffling that people keep comparing the starts of the season. How is it representative to compare how a team performed 1 year ago instead of a few months ago?

    Joelinton

It's impossible to judge him considering how the team is playing, but I am fairly certain Rondon would have done better both in contributing to winning and retaining the ball as a lone battering ram, and in terms of goals return. Rondon scored 9 in 34, 8 in 37 and 7 in 37 in the league in his three seasons for WBA under Pulis and Pardew. Joelinton has a job to do if he is going to match that.
  16. Both Longstaffs had this annoying habit this weekend of passing the ball backwards when they received the ball with their back to goal even though they had time to turn around and look for more positive options. Besides that, and one awful pass by Matty in transition that could have lead to a good opportunity, I didn't see much wrong with either of their performances. Matty is clearly the pressing one while Sean is covering. Both did well imo with some really nice play a couple of times. Sean has struggled with the tempo of matches so far this season but felt he had a bit more spark about him, a bit more rapid more like what we saw last season so I hope it has just been a matter of getting back to form after his injury.
  17. Nope, not a red It's a red 10/10 times. Stop being silly Still, that tackle wasn't intentional by Longstaff. He didn't complain about the decision, and looked anxious that he had caused an injury.
  18. Exactly. It wasn't even intentional. People need to calm down
  19. Harsh from a few on here on Sean. Look at the replay before spewing shit. It was a red, but it was an accident where his foot bounced off Neves and hit him a second time further up his leg. You saw the reaction from Sean right afterwards that it was a bad one.
  20. It's about as creative as you'd expect from the sheep Ashley has herded into the stadium
  21. Oh my, Lampart has the same fist pump/swing up against the fans as Pardew had. PTSD initiated.
  22. Got KDB and Sterling captain too. Looking like a decent week this
  23. Got Evans, Soyocu and Vardy. Can't complain so far.
  24. Someone should be sacked for not signing him to a pay as you train deal instead. Big loss for Mikes wallet.
