It sucks to lose, but looking at the results (and not the performance) and fixtures in February. Are anyone surprised or of the opinion that we should have expected something better? 3 points in february looks about right to me, and doesn't really sway my expectations for the worse. fwiw, I do think we are in real danger of going down and we need a reaction from staff and players after the City game, especially at the "winnable" away games. If they can improve the away form against the lower half teams (getting more than 2 points from the remaining away games), I do not think we will be relegated. This wasn't meant to be some "we're going to be fine" post. Just find that there are a lot of OTT people on here after a bad game against Chelsea whom regardless of league position, are lightyears ahead of us in terms of quality both on and off the pitch. Look at their form since Hiddink came in.

Earlier he was injured, came back and looked like an improvement on what we had, played a few games and turned to shit, got injured and everyone was happy. I can't remember the last game he played for us, so not sure if this is the case now.

Red card was pure frustration. Played excellently imo before that. Took charge of the game and tried to push us forward. Showed more captain material than Colo did.

My impression of the match was that Everton pressed well and in numbers better than we were able to make ourselves availble...im not saying Shelvey didn't play good, but a lot of times he didn't really have any options. Also, only his third match for us, in a struggling side, with a sub-par manager.

I think we could have managed a draw if Mitrovic started instead of Ayoze. Between the 60 minute mark and the first penalty they didn´t play that bad imo, and were taking the game to Everton. However, this was never going to work with Ayoze on his own up top.

He hasn´t completed 90 minutes of top flight football in over two years, and has played in what..4 games this season? I wasn´t exactly keen on him coming here in the first place, but he will get more than one game to prove me wrong though. Did not expect him to do well at all today, but not his fault he was thrown in the deep end by a desperate manager.

None seem to be playing for each other. Pass the ball, relax, lose ball, chase ball, after 20-50 Everton passes get ball, pass ball, relax, lose ball etc etc. Follow up with some intent without the ball to give some passing options! I bet we set up to counter attack with as few touches as possible by relying on Sissoko and Townsend to carry the ball. Everton is not letting us carry the ball so we need to be set up differently in the 2nd half.

That is a bit ridiculous to say tbh. So you'd start Colback + Anita ahead of their midfielders? Is Perez better than Coutinho? Come on man, let's not get carried away after beating West Ham 2-1 at home. We've been absolutely dreadful this season and so have they yet they're about a million points ahead of us. I did say starting line up, so nah, I´d start Shelvey and Saivet ahead of their midfielders. Not much between Perez and Coutinho for me, but I prefer Perez as he seems to be more versatile and hard working. Bit mad tbh, Coutinho has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the league to be honest. Perez still has an awful lot to learn. I don´t see the big difference, but I admit Coutinho is probably the safest option if you could chose whom you´d like in the team. Both are about the same age, Coutinho has 18 goals in 98 games for Liverpool in the PL, while Ayoze has 12 in 56. I assume Coutinho has quite a few more assists than Perez, but then again, he has also played in a far better team than Perez has.
