For one, I don't think anyone on here rates Colback higher than your standard decent PL midfielder, so as per usual he's exaggerating about any relevant perception of him being 'great'. Secondly, when you've got a defence who don't contribute to goals, wingers/CMs who barely contribute at best, not to mention forwards like Riviere getting games, a midfielder who's played a big part in 10 or so probably deserves far less criticism than most.

But look at his assists and goals. Doesn't matter if he goes missing for 85 mins during the game the stats tell us what a great job he's doing according to some. He didn't play well yesterday. But being totally dismissive of his 10 goals+assists is strange. Of course goals and assists matter. You're responding to someone who rates Cheick '1 goal' Tiote. Don't bother.

Pav wasn't really a good kicker. Steve Harper (before he became a perennial reserve) was very good. As far as keepers go, Mike Hooper was the best kicker of a ball I've ever seen. Poor at everything else but I vividly remember him almost scoring twice from his own box and actually forcing a fairly decent save from a goal kick against Luton.

Exactly, imagine leaving a nice club like Sociedad and a life in the north of Spain for our putrid circus. I think I'd instantly lose a lot of respect for him.

Given had the same weaknesses throughout most of his time here. His kicking was initially poor but he sorted it and he was never imposing or commanding in the box. His shotstopping certainly never went to shit like Krul's has.
