I was there on the day and I'm not bothered by Villa at the slightest. We're considered to be a big name club and they took delight at us going down. I'm sure it would have been the same if it was the other way round. No big deal. It's just a bit 'small time' to suggest there's a rivalry there when they probably haven't given us a second thought since. It'll be great to see them go down, but that's because they're a 'big name' rather than because they sang a new nasty songs about us. How is wanting them to go down because they're a big name any better than wanting them to go down because of what they did to us?

Despite the jaundiced and often prejudiced view of some on here, Alan Pardew has always had an excellent reputation amongst professionals within the game and that is what REALLY counts. He's had a decent start at NUFC despite a very difficult introduction, a hectic and testing run of matches and a fair few injuries to contend with. His man management skills seem to be excellent and I've seen three very original and effective set pieces produced so far. Well done AP keep it up ! I rated Pardew quite a lot when he was with West Ham, I think it was mainly because he comes across so well in interviews etc, and he radiates an air of knowing what he's doing. He's a charismatic guy, not surprised he's managed to have "steamy romps" with so many players' wives!

Think it would be immensely harsh to get rid of Ancelotti. Sacking a guy who's team recently looked unbeatable because of 11 games of downturn would be the wrong decision IMO.

Obviously we need a bit of strengthening all over, out of those three options I would be tempted to just go for a forward or a winger. Really we need a competent backup LB though, an injury to Enrique would fuck us up no end.

Tiote - 10 - The man-machine is what we've needed for ever, I don't actually want him to pass it long. Ben Arfa - potentially 9 or 10 - great signing on paper but only one great performance so far. Campbell - 5 - only been bad in one or two games, but looks to have the turning circle of an ocean liner. Perch - 4 - has been poor based on current performances, but I think he has potential to get better. Gosling - ?

The only thing he's done wrong so far is being appointed by Mike Ashley, quietly impressed with what he's done. As with some of the players we've signed, maybe he'll show that people with hunger and something to prove are the way to build a decent club.
