Like I said before the season, I'm not convinced Villa's signings have improved them that much. Diaby looked dangerous for a while but is unproven. Pau Torres is 'good' and Tielemans so often looks overwhelmed by the pace of the game.

Their tactical changes made them worse as well. Of course Torres was enforced but moving Diaby inside and bringing on Tielemans was disastrous. They just didn't have any solutions for what we were doing.

The most simple improvement to me seems to be get rid of clear and obvious error. Current VAR official decision - "is it understandable that the referee didn't give this penalty?" New VAR official decision - "was that a penalty or not?" I get the need to protect the standing of the officials but surely the best way to do that is to get the decisions right.

I've had various errors all the time but usually you can just click back or refresh etc and get it to work.

We were the better team throughout. They created a couple of chances but we were clearly on top. Even if Cash had scored we would have still gone and won.

It’s such a relief watching football that doesn’t have VAR. Went to the first Gateshead game the other week and it’s amazing to just know if something is offside or not, or if something is a goal or not.

The ‘clear and obvious’ error thing has to be removed. Any decision that is clearly wrong is a clear and obvious error. So if the people watching the replay think it’s a penalty then they should be instructed to give it, I wouldn’t even bother going back to the on-field ref. None of that really explains this absolute disaster like, but the influence on the on-field decision seems to open the door for these situations. They can say “it’s understandable he didn’t give it” and avoid the decision.

Guess it depends if people actually follow Saudi football or we just pretend those players don't exist when they go over there. Definitely the latter for me.

I think it's a big ask for such a young player. I really like him but it definitely has car crash potential in the short term.

The idea that either of these two are suddenly going to become brilliant is silly. Would be particularly concerned about Szoboszlai and Mac Allister, who were both very poor.
