Also going back to last nights chat, he did acknowledge that we looked and felt nervy at times. Even though he then spinned that overall we were solid. The guy knows ball. The idea that he hasn’t already spent hours thinking about the stuff we’re concerned about is just silly.

Maybe in a different season we’d have more easy games against teams that are getting pumped every week.

Tend to agree. Didn’t like how much ball we gave them but the main reason I was nervous is the number of points we’ve lost late in games recently.

A professional manager isn't really going to be thinking his team is bound to throw away a lead like, not in the way that we do. If he was standing there shitting himself then something really would be wrong.

Yeah, but the same applies no matter who you’re playing. If you don’t have sufficient quality you won’t necessarily outplay the teams you mention.

I really think we only have a handful of really top-quality players still. Who could form part of a really elite team/squad? Botman (if he's not permanently injured) Tino (but not elite on the ball) Hall Thiaw (but probably more the level of a backup for a top team) Tonali (if he remembers how to play) Bruno (but would need to change his habit of inviting too much contact) Miley soon Woltemade (if he keeps progressing) Wissa (probably more as a squad option) It's not really enough to form one brilliant team when you really analyse it, never mind to play in 4 competitions with high intensity and still have the quality to keep large periods of possession. We really need to be confident and playing as greater than the sum of our parts to look good.

Some of it will be, yeah. But TBF it might also be physically impossible to boss teams off the park every 3-4 days.

If we had any other players you could easily argue he should be dropped. Or it's possible there's a reason he should be rested, but he basically can't be.
