I've never been in favour of a move for Bent, but anyone on here could have told them that it would take around £6m and wages of around 60k to get him. If this is true then it's not that we're tight it's that we're playing silly c***s, pretending to be active in the transfer market.

I liked him aswell and felt he was harshly treated. I remember people rating Nicky Butt over him, which I found mental. Nicky Butt was far better than him in 06/07. But wasn't that partly because Butt was given the simple job of being a DM, while Parker was expected to get forward and create because he was considered the more talented of the two? I felt we should have stuck by Parker and I thought it was crazy how quickly people turned on him.

Well I have stayed out of the transfer threads so far this summer because I know I'd annoy people with my pessimism. I just can't see anyone other than the desperate or bewildered being attracted at the moment.

I've no real problem with the amount we spend on transfers or our transfer policy, I think we've been bringing in talented players for good fee's, and i've only really lost patience with Ashley this season. But hiring people that belong in another era(and weren't even particularly successful back then) can only lose us money. If we get relegated again, which is a real possibility at the moment, then what happens to the "solid financial foundation"? If Ashley recognized the way the game is played these days and the importance of coaching then I'd be fine, but as it is we have an old fashioned coach working under a relic, neither are really qualified to be here and i've no idea why either was hired.
