Wor Flags: visit worflags.org.uk/donate to support future displays

Don’t mean some big fuck off surfer like, doesn’t even have to seen, stick it at the back of The Gallowgate. How the fuck do 2 lads on their way to Malaysia for pre season get shot down in the plane they’re on….they’re about to miss something special. Like I said, just a thought. -

Not sure if appropriate and I certainly wouldn’t want to see it lead to a list of who “deserves” to be on a banner but John Alder and Liam Sweeney would be nice. Like most others I got tired of the 17 minute applause but it’d be good to see them remembered where they seemed to be happiest. -
Really impressed with Broja.

My dad also reckoned Green was something else, he lived through Milburn, Shackleton, Len Whyte (his favourite player) Stubbins and others. LFEE, we may not have seen much of Woodgate and injuries did for him but he was a cut above, he had it all as a centre back.

It’s impossible to pick a greatest xi. Picking a greatest xi from from each 20 years would be interesting. I’m not having Barton, Beresford, Albert, Solano or Lee in there. Not saying who I’d pick as do you want the best players or best team? There’s an argument that Len Shackleton was the best player around at his time but we got rid because he wasn’t a team player. Actually, there’s probably one player I would stick in, Woodgate was head and shoulders the best centre half I’ve seen for us, pure class. I didn’t see Brennan or anyone pre an ageing Moncur but I believe he and others were a bit agricultural in their approach. Woodgate should have been an England great, from memory Leeds felt Man U picked the wrong player when they signed Rio.

He’d pulled up before his goal near the touchline Leazes End, he actually initially indicated he needed to come off. This was a good 10 mins before he scored. He probably carried on as his muscles were all warmed up and he might have caused more damage by staying on.

I get that but, what was the alternative and ultimately where will we be in 5-10 years. Selling to Ashley in the very long run may well work out. SJH cut and ran and we’ve had to shit, let’s enjoy the ride from here.
-
Yeah, he might not have done his homework on Ashley or had the wool pulled over his eyes (and he clearly wanted out by that point) but, his work and vision took us from the brink of being where Sunderland are now to becoming a proper club again. Make no mistake we’d have remained a nothing club in a decrepit stadium without him. There’s no doubt at some point we’d have been taken over by someone but it wouldn’t look like it does today and I doubt very much that we’d have attracted the ultimate attention of Staveley and PIF. At the time there’s no doubt in my mind that Sunderland were in a far healthier position to kick on than us.

I’d play him in front of the centre backs, have Big Jo play as a disrupter across the whole of the midfield and probably play Shelvey. There’s also an argument to play Willock as the only midfielder we have capable of breaking the lines. It’s such a shame that Wilson is injured. I’d also be looking during training whether we can use Almiron effectively with Bruno picking out runs.
-
Villa have very mobile midfield options and Ramsay makes some great runs in behind. I think Bruno needs to start and there’s an argument to leave either Willock or Shelvey out. Personally, I’d leave Willock out but Shelvey is going to have to work his socks off again. If I were Villa I’d attack down our left side, we’ll miss Targett. We’ve a few days to prepare and get Bruno ready for his role.

I know the match attending fans have been largely slaughtered for being complicit with Ashley but, in no small way their numbers was a factor in PIF jumping on board and their support since the takeover has been something else. Wor Flags have been brilliant but a shout out from me to those fans who have shown the new owners what the club is all about. Hopefully they keep prices to a level where the normal fan can afford to go and I’d be all for keeping some free tickets aside every home game for those who can’t afford it. It’s great to see everyone pulling in the same direction.

He did but, he didn’t engage with the players and went to walk straight off after he’d quickly clapped the fans, one of the staff or players had to stop him disappearing down the tunnel. Happened in front of me (can’t remember who stopped him).
-
He’s ok when down the Riverside, but some of his mates give it the large one when they go out and about with him. When he had that bother in Sunderland and said his girlfriend was getting pelters (he’d been out with mates), he got knocked out by a bouncer behind the pub where there was no CCTV and it got kept out the papers. I posted about it at the time. He handled the crowd better than he’s done before but when he shinned that ball and Braithwaite did the same he was stotting ?

Sunderland result

Expected starting line up for me. It’d have been a risk starting Bruno after only a couple of training sessions and not knowing how bad some of his team mates can be. It’s a crucial position he plays. He’ll come off the bench after he’s seen what’s what.
-
Acuna and Cordone did ok for a bit and JNK needs to read up on the Robledo brothers.
-
Expecting him to start, more so than Bruno or Burn (if fit).
-
Sunderland lost 2-1 at home to Doncaster who remained bottom of the 3rd Division, a week after 15th placed Bolton had put 6 in the Mackem’s net at The University of Bolton Stadium…..
-
Ridiculous that mind.
-
His complete lack of any athleticism will stop him playing in the top league. It’s like he’s running through treacle, I can’t think of any midfield player I’ve seen have slower top speed or tbf a slower first 10 yards.

William Hill offering evens Man U in 90 mins up to £10 bet

Where’s the Squires cartoon frame, never more appropriate than now.

If Keane goes back his head will explode dealing with football at that level. He judges every player by his own standards, he’ll end up decking someone in training.

What an absolute twat.
