I totally agree, I just mean that a couple of better players could lead to an extra 5 points or so, safety assured a bit early and job done. Even with Carver. I'm not convinced Carver could lead one of the top 4 to safety tbh.

Top-drawer humour that, I'm in. Yeah I realise it's pretty lame, but it's great to see him revert to type and after all the "unrealistic expectations" "best anyone could do" bollocks it's even more sweet. But I appreciate the inferred "you're a cunt" Ian

They've all been awful under Carver, Abied's one of the least worst but seems to be Carver's HBA.
-
Would probably be better to chuck him on to the pitch. And chuck Carver in the crowd.

I think we should wait until the rot really starts to set in and go on their forum to vehemently back him, we should never have sacked him, don't know what they're expecting down there, like they expect to win the league every season or something, he's doing the best he can with what he's got, front foot football, yada yada, bwahaha!

That's not the logic anybody is following except you. I don't even know how you've got to that conclusion. We are talking about the scouting of our players. Janmaat looks a great acquisition. Perez a bargain and very promising. Depending on wages - Colback looks a decent signing too. But we spent over £20m on three attacking transfers. 1 has no record of being a goalscorer, another an extensive injury record and the last doesn't look to be suited to the division. So i'm questioning some of the decisions made by our Chief Scout. As has already been mentioned though, these are often 4th or 5th options down the list because Charnley/Ashley are always looking for a bargain rather than proven quality. How did we end up with Marveaux for example? Because he was going for free, talented & cheap. That's it. Riviere 3rd or 4th choice I can accept. But not the £15m on De Jong & Cabella. Those were #1 or #2 choices. Cabella was brought in to play under Alan Pardew, i'm sure Carr has seen Pardew-ball a plenty by now. We needed lads with that bit of individual magic. A Remy, Ba or HBA. Or at the very worst a real athlete with some decent ability ala Sissoko. Cabella doesn't look suited to the team or the division. IMO we started off in the French market getting established players for less than their true value. HBA, Cabaye, Sissoko, MYM - all bargains based on reputations alone. But that's where it's stopped. The deals to bring them in was top notch but none of them where "unearthed gems" like a Perez is showing. You're also missing the criteria of the purchase lists he has to make, cheap/free players running/run out of contract or unhappy at their team, dangle the carrot, get them at knock down prices and tie them into a long contract on peanuts. They either perform well and get sold on at a profit or we run down their cheap contract and rake the hit on the peanuts we've spent on them, pretty much risk free. Did you also notice during that whole paragraph I didn't mention anything about who is managing the team or what positions we require? That's because it's last on our list of priorities, Carr cannot be blamed for picking the wrong players because that's not in his remit.

Tbf to themanupstairs Ronaldo you've thrown us all a curveball there, it's not right!

I ripped the heart out and shoved a new one in, what else am I supposed to do? I can't stitch it up for her, I can't make it heal, I can't make it beat?

Showed so much promise, really is a depressing indictment of our present state, a keeper can't be in his prime in his early 20s ffs. Is declining rapidly and I think for his own sake he needs out and a proper coach because he hasn't got the gumption to make it despite our shit coaching.

Tbf ManDoon, I don't think any of them would have done well in a static team isolated up front or on the wing. We could make Messi look s*** based on the fact Williamson would be pinging 50 yard balls to his head and the rest of the team would stand and watch expecting him to take on 5 players and score. Going back to Cabella being dispossessed I've seen it with HBA, Cabella, Perez, etc.. they take the ball in promising situations, take a few players on and end up stuck in a corner with no players within 20 yards or get doubled up on and lose possession. I think there is something to Cabella and I think he can do a decent job in this league, just not with this "management" or these tactics. He is lightweight and I agree that he's not got it right now but I wouldn't rule him out just yet. I agree like, but the difference is players like HBA were capable of creating regardless of the s*** around them, I don't feel like Cabella has that. In a fluid team though I don't doubt he would be very good.

Like my mum always used to say to me, sorry means you won't do it again. I don't think he's sorry in the slightest.

I have always thought that. The club is a shadow of what it was when he bought it. He's sold off what he can and every area of the club is seriously under-resourced. The only value the club seems to have now is the potential TV earnings. He could also screw us on the commercial side depending on his conditions for a sale. People talk about new owners having to invest in the squad but they will have to invest in the club's entire infrastructure as the current operation is barely holding together. The one thing about him selling the club that bothers me is how deep his grubby little fingers go, it's not just a basic flat rate buys your the club and the debt you have to consider how much of the commercial side of it is his, how much he has outsourced to his own companies and how any new owners would go about getting all that back to rebuild the entire shitheap. No one in their right mind would buy a club with Ashley still making money from shirt sales and advertising revenue. How much will all that cost??
-
Pardew always prattled on about having more than one target for each position and not being held to ransom. I.e. we lowball all our options until one says yes, usually third or fourth choice.
-
10% of his wealth? Maybe, but how much of his other 90% wealth is due to the free worldwide advertising he gets on prime time television? That won't happen in the Championship and that WILL hurt him by proxy.
-
Sorry if Giggs but has anyone heard about Oyston suing fans who speak out against him for slander at Blackpool? One guy had to pay out and the supporters raised a crowd fund to pay for his costs. Wouldn't surprise me if Ashley got wind of this.
-
I think it's less to do with Ashley going and more to do with the financial punishment he deserves watching his investment burn. If we went into free fall I think most would still be here to support the team no matter what league we were in. Ashley would eventually have to sell if we were out of sight of the Premier. But aye, it'd be much easier if someone came in and bought us as a Premiership outfit.
-
Good luck with that. There is zero percent of chance for us to beat them. Meanwhile if Hull lose Against Liverpool on Tuesday they might save us. I dont see them getting any points against Arsenal, Manchester UTD and Spurs. Ugh imagine if we go down on goal difference, saving Hull and Phil Brown makes an appearance again just to sing his song.
-
All it shows is mismanagement from the top is filtered down, how can you care when those above you don't, so long as you're achieving your remit and not rocking the boat, you're golden. Leaders lead from the front, managers manage, we have no leaders at NUFC and therein lies our problem. It's all crumbling down at the moment.
-
If we stay up its because of the rough run ins for teams below us and nothing to do with us, I can't see where our next point is coming from but I don't think the likes of Hull and Sunderland have enough in the tank to catch us. We're literally going to survive on 35 points because some other dross can't catch us on an 11 game losing streak, beautiful!

That is the crux of it. Newcastle having strong crowds has always been something to be proud of. Until now. Which is why simply not pumping in money and not going is the only way. If you have a season ticket he's already got your money. He,s got your money but he doesnt need to have you servilely compliant, going to the game is a social event for many. A part of the week that constanly changes how you feel and yet you always feel the same, belonging. The boycotts can be the same if you attend them, if you do go to the match, take a leaflet and dont hand it over to a f***ed over minimum wage zero hour steward ..... I doubt theyre happy either. This club is a mess and we need to take it back. I never saw anyone handing out leaflets on my way to the ground tbh. Saw loads of kids using them as paper airplanes during the game though. Clearly on the wind up here, the quoted comment above is inciting and purposefully provocative. You're wrong in so many ways but I truly believe you're fully aware of that. I won't keep pointing out why and I won't entertain any more of your bullshit, good luck, you deserve all you get from Ashley and his cronies.

It was only a matter of time before he went rage, think he might blow with a bit more pressure.
