He done exactly the same thing last year.... and missed that one to. Unbefuckinglievable.

Experience and all that shit.

Unfortunately there's no way that he'll drop Butt.
-
100% agree with you there .

Do you think Harper decided himself to punt the ball upfield at every opportunity against Bolton and Hull or did Hughton have some influence?? The team selection, tactics and confidence of the manager has a huge influence on the way the players set about the opposition. I don't think it's any coincidence that we played very well for half an hour against the Mancs when very little was expected of the players and Hughton stumbled across a formation that suited the players we had available for that game. He obviously told the players to go out and hit the Mancs with pace on the break. It's also obvious that Hughton wasn't able to look Michael Owen and Nicky Butt in the eye and tell them that he wasn't going to start with them against Hull. Yeah, all fair points, I'm not a big fan of Hughton either. He wouldn't be the only manager unable to drop a big-name pro though. That's true, but doesn't that prove that these people shouldn't be in charge of big name players though?

I don't think it's a case of him not having the balls to bring someone in, i think it's a case of him not being prepared to pay for someone to come in. As i've said before, he's a gambler, that's what he's doing with the future of our club.

Do you want Joe Kinnear to be NUFC manager permanently?
beardsleymagic replied to James's topic in Football
Hopefully if every other Toon website run a poll like this (obviously with all the results more or less the same), it might get some newspaper coverage. Then maybe Ashley might think twice before appointing him long term. Then again.... -
I think one of the main problems is that too many of our players either haven't got the bottle or don't give a fuck. Sad but true.

Blatter "has concerns" over strength of Premiership

Totally agree . -
To be honest i can't believe some people are trying to cast doubts over Shearer's allegiance to the club. If certain players who are at the club now put in half the effort Shearer did when he was at the club, we wouldn't be in the shit we're in now.
-
Agreed. Oh aye. There's no doubt in my mind that that's the case.

Good defender, but a dick of the highest order.

Ashley will not pay any more money on bringing in a new manager in my opinion. He's trying to do everything on the relative cheap (in footballing terms anyway). We all heard the stories when he took over about how he gambled with 100's of thousands of pounds on the turn of a card or whatever. That's what he's doing now, taking a gamble. Only not only is he doing it with his own money, he's doing it with the future of the club.

Is Martins doing his Dr. Evil impersonation?

NUSC write up of Llambias attendance at the Supporters Panel meeting
beardsleymagic replied to Happy Face's topic in Football
As i said in a thread before, for me the most worrying thing about all this is the money for future transfers. If as Llambais says, the club is running at a loss, Ashley will only put about £10m in the pot and we are getting the Milner money in dribs and drabs and the club won't borrow any money. Where are the funds going to come from? We have a major rebuilding job on in the summer (whether we go down or not). Our so called star striker is going for nowt, we still need to address the midfield and what happens if someone comes knocking for Bassong or Coloccini, would anyone be surprised if they were moved on to release funds? (I wouldn't). It seems that for the forseable future the club is going to be run as bargain basement shop, keep all the overheads down, keep a manager who'll hopefully just manage to keep us in the division but won't let his mouth go about not getting to much funding, then when the first decent offer comes in, get rid of the club. Now i'm not saying that i don't want Ashley to sell up, but my point is, how long before an offer thats acceptable will come in? It could be years. If we thought we've had it bad in recent seasons, we could be in for a whole new level of mediocrity. That's just the way i see it like. -
Aye but how many games on the trot do man utd play bad?

NUSC write up of Llambias attendance at the Supporters Panel meeting
beardsleymagic replied to Happy Face's topic in Football
Also, it seems to me as if the club is now being run basically month to month with the view to sell it at the earliest opportunity ie. No big debts (buying players outright and such, paying off bank loans (well moving bank loans)). So they can get rid of it quickly when the time came. -
NUSC write up of Llambias attendance at the Supporters Panel meeting
beardsleymagic replied to Happy Face's topic in Football
In my opinion, thie article doesn't paint any of them in a good light. NUSC seem more interested in having a go about Llambias. And Llambias comes across as (in that article) as someone who cannot handle a bit of pressure upon him (not good for running a football club). But for me, one of the most worry things was all this transfer money talk. If we arn't going to borrow any more money (managable debt i can't see any problem with like), and we are going to buy players outright (fair enough) but get money back in dribs and drabs, how the hell are we going to be able to afford ANY players in the summer?!!?? -
I totally agree that we need help. But to even contemplate Souness would be suicide.
-
As it was said in another thread a lot of people don't believe the positive things he says believe the bad things (JFK ect). Can't say I blame them, I'm a bit on that wavelength myself. It's up to Ashley/Llambias to prove what they say, they mean. Not just empty promises.

I always thought they had to blow for full time/half time when the ball was in a neutral position, or in a position where theres no chance either side could score immediately. Was surprised the full time whistle was blown last night just after Ronaldo's last free kick had been saved, I would have guessed they would have played on until it had been cleared. I don't know if it's been changed in recent seasons but the rule used to be that the ball had to be in play for the game to end and as a goal kick or free kick is taken to restart the game then technically the ref can't blow the final whistle until after the kick has been taken. The opposite occurs in rugby where the game can't only end with the ball in play. No, the rules haven't been like that. Only penalties have to be taken before the referee can blow the final whistle. Free kicks, throw ins and goal kicks does not have to be taken. Aye, that's what I thought as well. Hence my frustration.
-
Why do referee's, when blowing for half/full time, have to wait until the goalkeepers just took a goal kick or free kick before blowing as soon as the balls in the air. I mean, there's obviously no time to score so why make them take the kick? Why not just blow before? I know not a major issue, it's just something that's pissed me off for years.

I've got nowt against JFK personally, but if he's still manager after the end of the season then i'll seriously consider not renewing my season ticket.
