The problem we've got now if they do get rid of VAR for offsides (won't happen, but let's imagine for a second) is that fans will now see a replay of something like Willock's goal tonight, which no one would have complained about being offside before VAR came in, and be moaning every week that VAR would have found an armpit was offside. It's completely fucked things up
-
What VAR has shown is that premier league linesmen are actually pretty fucking good on the whole. The ones they don't get right are more often than not the ones we saw tonight where a tiny couple of centimetres of the attacker's body is offside. I think I'd be willing to risk some shocking decisions for the ability to celebrate goals properly again. I didn't celebrate the Willock goal tonight at all because I knew a check was coming

I really should read past the last page of the thread

The stoppable force meets the moveable object. Could be a grim watch this
-
Just play Murphy or Thiaw at right back until Miley or Tino are fit, Trippier is done
-
I know it's not the rule, but if a hand ball stops the ball from going in then it should be a penalty in my opinion.
-
So is an injured Hall
-
I'm not sure why we haven't used Trippier at left back at all in this run of games. Hall needs a break at some point and Thiaw or Murphy could cover right back

I went to the same school as him, not in the same year but I vaguely knew him. He was a complete and utter gimp, exactly how you'd expect him to be based on how he comes across in the media. I'm absolutely amazed he's landed in this sort of role, but I think he ended up going to Oxford Uni so probably no great surprise

Haven't read through the thread so apologies if already discussed, but it was a bit concerning that in his post-match comments last night he was putting blame on the players for not doing their jobs. Surprised he said it tbh, I imagine that sort of thing doesn't go down particularly well with players these days
-
Sick of Pep perving all over him at full time every time we play them
-
Pretty sure he said a year or two ago that we could spend £500m and not be in any bother with PSR. His numbers always seem to be taking a very short-term view, ie what is the absolute maximum we could spend this month and then amortise it all for five years. Answer would be that we would then be fucked and unable to spend anything for years and probably have to sell our best players again
-
On corners, the number of times we put everyone at the back post, then they all run near post and the ball sails over their heads and out for a goal kick is baffling and angering in equal measure. And we've got a guy working as a full time set piece specialist. Absolutely robbing a living

Always think this hairstyle/goatee combo looks absolutely ridiculous. See also Morgan Gibbs-White and Dominic Solanke
-
Yeah we were linked with him quite a bit last summer
-
Yeah I actually like that
-
Probably do another 2 hour draw for that
-
Has all the makings of being back in a few weeks and it going again after 3 games and needing surgery
-
Is there a better sight than this man galloping up the left wing from centre back to put a cross in?
-
Same, in the second half I was just laughing and shaking my head
-
Proper heartening performance wasn't it. Brave on the ball and some moments of real quality, everyone running their socks off, taking the game to the reigning European champions on their own patch. Love it

Monaco are currently 10th in Ligue 1 with a -5 goal difference. We'll be strong favourites to progress whoever we get, especially over 2 legs

They reminded me a bit of one of Wenger's Arsenal sides whilst they were still at Highbury with Henry, Vieira, Pires etc. They would try and absolutely blow you away from the first whistle and play some fantastic stuff, but if you could just about survive the first 25-30mins they sometimes looked completely spent
-
We're odds of around 4/1, even slightly less, to win. It wouldn't be the biggest upset in the world according to the betting gods
-
Isn't there some stat around players who started playing regular first team football really young often being finished by their early 30s (e.g., Rooney). Think I read something looking at minutes played by a certain age and they have a huge drop off after that point. Looks like Sterling can be added to that list
