Bastard! -
What are Ashley and co's intentions? Have they failed so far?

We simply can't match it with teams like City and Spurs these days. Them's the cold hard facts. I'm more than happy with this transfer window, and we've brought in 3 real gems in Guthrie, Coloccini and Gutierrez. Can't comment on Gonzalez or Xisco yet as I haven't seen them in action, and Bassong has looked promising when I've seen him. The way some of you go on, it's like you'd prefer Shepherd back with his blowing of ridiculous money on extremely average players. -
Steve Finnan signs for Espanyol.

Betting only interests me if the wager is more than $10 Damn!

Follow Sun'lan too do ya? FAIL. Try upper League 1 / Lower Championship & you might have a clue! Nah, you FAIL. All of the Championship sides would belt nearly every A-League side, the better sides (Adelaide Utd ) would be competitive in League 1. I'd be willing to put my life savings on that.

Usually there's a few people I see with Toon tops that are there.
-
Ex-Toon "star" Michael Bridges played for a few months last season on loan at Sydney FC - and scored a few goals too. So yeah, Championship at very best... David Carney left Sydney for Sheffield United which was unanimously considered a step up... Wellington are supposed to be a dark horse this season - do Kiwis generally care about them? To be honest, it'd be struggling to even be at Championship standard. I'd honestly say lower League 1. i be there Me too more than likely.

Adelaide vs. Wellington is on Saturday night at Hindmarsh....

The thing is, Keegan wants to start both Gutierrez and Milner (who was actually v. good today), which means the only place N'Zogbia can fit in is LB.
-
Their team?

Well I'm pumped for this. I hope for: Given Beye Taylor Coloccini Enrique Gutierrez Guthrie Butt N'Zogbia Duff Martins But think we'll see: Given Beye Taylor Coloccini N'Zogbia Milner Guthrie Butt Gutierrez Duff Martins

Stop playing funny buggers Dave -
As a ref myself I say about time. Funny story, last night in an under 14s match, a player disagreed with one of my decisions not to yellow card a player, and told me what he thought. I told him to shut up or he'd be the one getting the yellow card, to which he replied 'if you treated us with respect we'd treat you with respect'. Clearly it works the other way, and I know that when I'm refereeing, if players respect me, I respect them. If they choose not to respect me, I choose not to respect them. Pretty simple.

Hertha Berlin 1 - 0 Newcastle - 01/08/08 - post match reaction from page 17
ShearMagic replied to Skirge's topic in Football
No need to over-react guys, it's a friendly. We beat Celtic and Juventus last year and look at how our season turned out, remembering Hertha are probably in a more advanced stage than ourselves too, as was visible towards the end when we were just completely knackered. Gutierrez was MOTM for the 60 minutes he was on, brilliant. He's very quick, and he's not all about attacking, he did a few very good pieces of defensive work too. Linked up well with N'Zogbia down the left hand side, and he's more than capable of cutting in and using his right foot, which he did on occasions. Milner did some good things, however his crossing was just fucking woeful. Granted he's still got a few weeks to get it right, however it was his problem last season too and I would've hoped to see an improvement by now. Guthrie was pretty good in the first half, but he drifted out of it in the second. Played some very good balls over-the-top, his vision is the thing that impressed me the most. However, he was lazy on occasions and hopefully this is just because it was pre-season. Smith did nothing as usual, and with Ameobi we have offcially the worst front-pairing in history. I laugh at people that say we dont need strikers, I really do. We've got Owen, Martins and Viduka, but Owen and Viduka are likely to be injured more times than they're actually playing. Our defence looked pretty shaky at times, although with a fee now apparently agreed for Coloccini, hopefully we'll get him sooner rather than later. Duff looked quite good when he came on off the bench too playing on the RW. He actually had some speed surprisingly, however he's only got a left foot which makes him all too easy to read. -
I hope that he doesn't get booed, but I know he will.

I've heard some very good things about him. Hopefully with the extended bench this season he gets a chance.
