If the journos are to be believed (and that's big if) then Sevilla was really waffling. They don't want to sell the player but they liked the idea of the money they could get. Things were also complicated by "agreeing personal terms" and who the hell knows what that meant. It certainly would have been better if Sevilla gave us a hard no as we got with Botman but the owners had to be doing their due diligence. The Guimaraes deal didn't come together in a day so we have to conclude that the journos had no knowledge of it. Who knows, while they post endless streams of speculation maybe the club are really getting things done. Let's hope this is the case.

Meh, we had no PL quality striker and we had to overpay for Wood. He's a useful piece for the rest of the way and we can make something back on him in the summer.

Tiote and Cabaye was the only midfield I really liked during the Ashley era.

I think we'd be better served if we can go more with loan with option to buy or just straight loan. CB and holding CM were musts and we've made no progress at all. I'd give Gomez a shout. Still puzzled that attacking players (outside of Diego Carlos) have so much of our attention. Should have moved on from Carlos 2 weeks ago.

I would be disappointed if we wind up with Tarkowski as our top CB purchase I'd take Alli over Lingard We need someone to boss the midfield

That little side pass to Willock was sublime. Willock didn't finish but still...

This was not an easy game to manage with guys getting hurt and cramping up. He kept the team focused and reminded them constantly to defend further up the pitch. Nice, nice win.
