  1. Ashley wouldn't be doing this kind of deal without someone working with him to get it it done. I do believe the TAKEOVER is inching forward.
  2. I would assume Charnley went as Newcastle's representative? I imagine him sitting by himself at the kid's table with little plastic teacups and silverware, mooning at all the "big people".
  3. A European Super League looks good on paper (as far as generating money in the short term) but it is not sustainable. If I'm a big six fan do I really want to watch my team play the same teams (only) year after year? I'd rather see my club play newly promoted teams and different clubs in the domestic and continental cups. Variety is the spice of life. PL stays at 20 teams bottom 3 get relegated, 17th PL plays in playoffs with Champo 4,5,6. EFL gets 20% of all TV money but keep all of the money from the new EFL cup which would only include tiers 2,3 & 4 There has to be a vehicle to get cash into EFL clubs hands now in combination with UK government. 6/9 proposal goes away. It's beyond greedy.
  4. I don't think it will happen as proposed. There are good points but at its roots its a shameless money grab that won't pass as is.
  5. What is that based on, not calling you out, but I haven't seen it. I know they most likely prefer the american model with the draft picks, but I don't see this link. Stability for Liverpool/Man United? They aren't in danger of relegation any time soon. FWIW I would actually like a draft here, not that logistically its possbile really. I just see it as typical big club power grab. It's not an American thing anymore. If you look at new sports, f.ex E-sports, all the big teams around the world wants a franchise style league to protect their own brand. That's the route they've gone at Riot games and Blizzard, and all the teams have fought for a similar arrangement in CS:GO the last couple of years as well, only partly managing to do so since Valve is not as hands on with the e-sports side of the game as other game developers. If football was a newer sport, this is definitely the way it would have gone too imo, sadly. Disagree. It’s definitely an American thing. They’ve never liked relegation and their aim is to remove it. This is just the next safest bet to protect their “franchises” until they gain further control. If I’ve been lead to believe correctly approval of opposition ownership is also widespread in American sport too. Here’s Parry on TalkSport defending the idea for those who missed it. It’s 4mins in. https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1602493200/1602495000/ Correct. I'm assuming there is more American money standing on the sideline waiting to get into the game. This would pave the way for them. For all the bluster about free markets and over regulation American BIG business wants risk free investment by self regulation.
  6. What? KaKa's having sex with Big Joe?
  7. I think everyone batter calm down.
  8. "Mr. Finance Minister, what if any, is your involvement in PIF?' "What is this PIF that you speak of" "Ok, that's it. Thanks for popping over everyone. Cheers!"
  9. I heard he was licking bacon grease off of people's fingers. True?
  10. Hatem came to us as more of a finished product, didn't he? I think ASM has some room to grow.
  11. Hendricks needs to play more centrally. He doesn't belong on the wing.
  12. Wow. Cabbage head feeling some heat?
  13. Thought he used to play a big role with the club but he's the classic example of a guy that you want to get rid of a year too early than have to try to get rid of a year too late
  14. I think he's greatly inferior to Pardew. Pardew had some nice set pieces and had the team playing some nice stuff until he, for some reason, started playing scared.
  15. I really like Hayden. He's a good player, a real pro and probably a good person and family man. But, wow, he looks SO much better playing with the dreck we currently have with him in midfield.
  16. The mental aspect is so important in sport. Under Rafa, I'll bet the players were not only drilled in a system but knew exactly what was expected of them. Areas where they fell short could be coached up and encouraged. If they couldn't fit the bill either the payer was sat or, if the effort was there but not the skill, the system was altered. Good coaches put their players in a position to succeed. If the tactical system is unclear then expectations can't be set and the players flounder. I've coached youth sports, including high school sports, here in the states. Players want to be coached, they want to know what is expected of them, they want direction. It's very simple, really. When a player steps on the pitch and knows he's not prepared I don't care how good the pregame talk was things will go sideways and the player will not know how to respond. There will be no accountability, there will be no preparation to fall back on.
  17. Better days are coming. Don't know when but they are coming.
