The third one was the most rage-inducing for me. He just stood there rooted to his line, bouncing up and down like nowt was happening as Bowen advanced on him, before a floppy dive where he didn't really get anywhere near it despite the shot not being bang in the corner at all. It's like he's constantly got a bungee rope attached to him that won't let him travel more than two or three yards off his line. Absolutely chod on the first two goals as well mind you. Conceded 3/4 shots on target and almost threw it away when he wandered into no man's land as Soucek came in at the back stick. The step down from Pope to him is absolutely gargantuan, both in terms of quality and the fit for the style we play.

Bruce and Pardew come up a lot on Undr the Cosh interviews. Most say Pardew fancied himself ("chocolate, if he could eat himself he would do") etc but generally there's fairly positive comments although nobody absolutely raving about him being brilliant etc. Can remember a fair few who don't like Bruce. Themes are that he won't pull players and explain why they're not playing and that he relies on his assistants to do everything, most say Eric Black or Clemence etc are good and Bruce doesn't do much. Theres quite a funny story on the Rowan Vine one where Bruce gives Phil Brown at Hull Vine's number and tells him to call him and see if he wants to go on loan there, without discussing the prospect of a loan move with Vine at all first. So Vine, being a bit of a dick and not very happy, gives his mate who's a plumber Bruce's number and tells him to call Bruce and see if he wants any plumbing done on the basis of "give my number out, I'll give yours out". Apparently Bruce was raging that this guy was ringing and texting constantly seeing if he wanted a new downstairs toilet or whatever

He at least tried to play a decent style of football too, it was just brittle and poorly implemented. Bruce was turgid as fuck constantly.

Bruce is worse than Pardew like. Pards is at least an overt southern smarmy twat whereas Bruce tries to hide behind the local lad stuff. Both love making excuses, talking themselves up and blaming everything other than themselves but Pardew didn't actively try to antagonize the fans and the press in the way that Bruce did. We at least got the unsustainable 5th place year, patches of decent footy and a European jaunt out of Pards whereas Bruce spent more than him and the footy was consistently worse. Pardew is also a far better manager than Bruce (although still not good at all). It's comparing two really shitty characters but Brucey is by far the bottom of the barrel imo.
