  4. I'd be genuinely shocked if Arsenal signed him after the way he played in that 7-3 game. It was like a masterclass in how not to play the midfield role he's supposedly really good at.
  5. Tiote to Arsenal would be as ridiculous as when Sidwell and Ben Haim went to Chelsea.
  6. I have a lot of time for that.
  7. Aye. We get beat (quite likely as it's on BT Sport) and then it puts you in a bad mood all weekend.

I don't think he'd find that form he had when he arrived again, but he'd probably be near enough to a 1 in 2 striker IMO. Which is very good in itself.
  9. Draw or narrow victory, IMO. We usually do well at Villa and they have this amazing knack of hardly ever winning home games. Lambert and Pardew probably went to the same management seminar.
  10. Maddison was a funny case. His name always seemed to crop up a fair bit on reserve team match reports for goals and assists, and then he was released early with some of the crapper ones in his clutch.

  12. As a player, I find him incredibly frustrating. He's just inconsistent; he goes from sublime to Sunday morning player and back again in the space of about ten minutes flat - and I'm talking basic 5-yard passes or blatantly obvious good passing opportunities ignored. It's really unusual.

Haidara is a great example of a player who seems to be rated higher and higher the more he doesn't play. I do think he could well be a good full-back for us, but he needs a loan somewhere first IMO, even if it's just for a couple of months. I see what you mean with the second half of your post too, but the issue there is that in this set-up, that kind of attacking mindset totally doesn't work without the defensive nouse to go with it, knowing when to hold back and being able to get back in time etc. I'd like to see a more expansive attacking game as much as everyone else, but Haidara just doesn't fit into the side IMO. Funnily enough, if we had a manager with any semblance of an attacking philosophy, I think he'd have played 20-30 games by now and we'd not be having this conversation.

If his sole remit was to sit back and defend he could probably do that I'd love to know what you're basing that on. Apart from one match in the Europa League, he's looked shaky as fuck defensively IMO.

Haidara is a better footballer, but he doesn't seem to be able to defend whatsoever and for that reason I wouldn't want him in the team. He's absolutely crying out for a season in the Championship.
  16. He is though. He moves into good spaces, he's good at simple one-two's, he gets into goal scoring positions and when he plays on the wing he usually puts in a decent cross. What makes you think he's not an intelligent footballer? Decision making, mainly. Decision making is easier when you have time in your own half passing sideways or backwards. get the fuck out of here. There's a semblance of truth to that, but there's no way it's a legitimate defence of Sissoko's piss-poor decision making. He's supposed to be good at it, and he isn't.

It's the thing that does my head in the most on this forum. Santon's form was patchy and he's not pulled on a Newcastle shirt for five months or so, whilst Dummett has posted some decent, some shocking, some poor, but mostly adequate, just-par displays. And the sum of this is people lauding Haidara as some sort of left-back saviour, despite him showing absolutely nowt in our shirt. I could have put some canny crosses in versus 9 knackared Stoke players for frigs sake. Dummett did okay today, 'senior pros' Gouffran and Sissoko were far worse than him and once again, he's being dug out and called shite whilst everyone nails their colours to the Good Ship Haidara despite very little evidence to suggest he'll make it.
  18. I wondered why none of the pundits today on either the Sky coverage or MOTD2 noticed that. He was about four or five yards behind the rest of the line and playing Aguero on; all this before Aguero made him look like an old carthorse. The little extra step Aguero takes before shooting is exactly the same thing he did at the Etihad against Taylor last year to make it 2-0, when Taylor looked fairly in control. Proof that we don't ever learn.

The trouble is he never exceeds that level. Neither does Haidara, or Santon about 5 or 6 times out of 10. Dummett's arguably the best defender out of the three, even if he's easily the worst with the ball and going forwards.
  20. It's Williamson's man IMO. Coloccini rushing off and creating that huge gap is so painful to watch on the replay.
  21. Sissoko shaded it, for me. That said, I thought today was Gouffran's best game in about 8 or 9 months... and yet I'd still have rated him at about a 6 or slightly higher. He's so bang average it hurts.

Bizarre time to say it. He didn't set the world on fire today but his performance was totally adequate.
