Im not 'meh' at all. Infact i'm quite disappointed. Carroll moving here on loan with a view to permanent was a perfect situation for me. We're dreadfully short up front; having lost Best and Lovenkrands. We've got 3 Premier league strikers one of which is Shola; who despite how much I love the bloke for his derby day antics and cult hero image, isnt good enough to be starting for us on a regular basis. Cisse and Ba, although they didn't seem to form any sign of a partnership at the end of last season are more than than capable but potentially disappear for a period come the end of January. He'd be an extra body and give us an extra option up top, he's obviously got talent and openly wanted to come here. A loan move move would have gave us the flexibility of not having to tie him down to a contract, and the possibility to sign him permanently up if he rediscovers his from his time here and to a degree the end of last season. Do were we in for him and Liverpool refused to deal with us or did we just not bother at all?

Whilst I agree with aspects of this I don't see why the board have to be so rigid with regards to their policy. Surely their comes a point when their stubbornness in treating the policy as the be all and end all becomes a hinderence in the club moving forward? For me as the club moves on and adapts so should the transfer policy. Again I'm not saying an entire change of ethos, just a little bit of leeway that we've earned.
