Could be a hinderance rather than a plus. Could be argued he has been playing for his place last few games hence the marked improvement and now he'll revert to being hit/miss I know what you're saying but no way can legs in midfield be a hindrance at this club atm. Proved what he's capable of yesterday Didn't mean it like that. I meant in terms of form/effort/application from him. I don't doubt we need him in the team. Fair do's

He's in the squad because of his ability to score goals........in the championship. He'll get found out this season. He's no better a player in the prem than he was the season we went down. Complete hindrance to progress

Surely a wind-up. Not at all, he was s***. As for driven across the box, he just got in space and booted it at Nolan. Anyone with a bit of technical ability would have played it into him, not hit it as hard as they can hoping it reaches him. That's kids football man! It did reach. Low ball into the box could've gone off a defender and in and caused all kinds of hell and on another day Nolan may have struck it sweet as a nut. I'll take kids football, don't care if he caresses the ball like a lover. He got that ball in a dangerous position full stop. Anyone could stand on a football pitch and kick the ball as hard as they can at the box, it doesn't make them a footballer. He is a decent dribbler i will give him that but it's a myth that he takes pressure off us as 90% of the time he just gives it straight back where as a slower more technical player would at least hold on to it longer. Didn't haven't be anything else though did it? Took my admiration of the cross to the nth degree there. He got the ball in a dangerous position on that occasion and that was good enough in that instance. He keeps that up I dont care how they get there. Don't know what he has to do sometimes. First to admit he's not Cronaldo but jesus.

Those driven low balls accross the six yard box are not what you want at all are they? Gutierrez's crosses are never driven, just scuffed. Travelled at a rate for a scuffed one then matey. Either way wasn't tripe by any means

Taking off a defensive player and leaving on an offensive player when we need a goal. Shocking that like. Behave. Nolan was offensive today in the sense that he is playing off the striker and not much else. I dont think you take you're players who are playing well off full stop tbh unless you have to
-
You've got to like the man...and has definitely improved the side. Don't think anyones saying he completely inept though either but taking Tiote off and leaving an anonymous Nolan on. Tis' asking to be questioned. Pulis' changes definitely helped but its double jeopardy with that sort of thinking

Perch's positioning is shocking - Etherington will destroy both of them, at least Taylor offers us something going forward From a set-piece standing still. -

Did Boro winning the LC transform how you see them as a club? Far too much is made of our trophyless streak. If it’s become a millstone round our neck it’s because we’ve let the media blow it out of all proportion. There’s not many clubs in the UK that have won more than NUFC and the club is about a whole lot more than trophies in cabinets. If it wasn’t we’d have crumbled away to nothing over the last four decades. We’ve stayed united because NUFC is underpinned by a sense of pride in who we are, because there’s a relationship between the city and NUFC very few clubs enjoy. Other supporters sing you’ve never won f*** all because they envy what we do have, and that’s something that can’t be bought. Winning the League is an achievement to be proud of. Winning the FA Cup still carries a modicum of prestige, but the LC has become a joke. Winning something would nice but it’s not the be all and end all. Being desperate to win anything just for the sake of winning something is a very sad way of thinking about NUFC. If the LC comes our way so be it. There’s some money to be made, but anyone who thinks it’s worth winning for any other reason should ask themselves what that reason is. we're not boro. they were just a small club that got lucky one year and its the pinnacle of their existence. we are a huge club who've never really built on the promise of recent decades so to finally lift some silverware would be a sign of finally beginning to realise our potential. of course it is worth winning, no it's not the greatest cup there is and obviously i'd prefer we broke our winless streak with something more prestigious but just look at the winners in recent years. it would also get us into europe, generate some money and interest and forever banish the idea that nufc have never won anything and aren't the sort of club to seriously compete for trophies, even if such a belief is wrong it still exists and gnaws away at the club. can't understand this attitude of turning your nose up at a proper trophy. Third rate clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs. Yup. Surely any cup, against reputed and credible opposition becomes a credible trophy? Seems to be a case of not being able to back down from an argument to me. Have a word man. -
Smith is a dire, Championship level player as was Butt. Any criticisms levelled at either player over the last couple of years have been fully justified. So by dire Championship player you mean he is one of the worst Championship players? Absolute bollocks. He is an average Premiership player, and I reckon every single team in the Championship would take him now without question. No. I mean he is dire, and hence belongs in the Championship. This man was our weaklink last season, and was rightly dropped once we got a proper right winger. Can't believe people still defend him on any level. People are shite scared of appearing negative to see the cold truth that he's finished. Defending SMITH in a Nolan thread. My word.
