A 32 year old Martin Braithwaite scored 10 goals in La Liga last year and he couldn't make it in the Championship in his prime. Not really a league known for it's difficulty is it? Januzaj was good in Spain ffs. Fact remains, Hojlund at 21 has 4x the amount of European goals Isak has. That's in a team most people consider to be massively misfiring, with the one of the main criticisms being how the wingers don't get the ball into the striker. Nobody really talks about Isak's record in Europe for some reason while they're glazing him. But here, he got a hat-trick against Ipswich, give him the Ballon d'Or.

Hojlund scored 16 goals last year mate as a 20/21 year old. Hojlund also has 16 in 25 in Europe competition as well. Isak has 4 in 25, which is proper shite. Bet your 6 year old neighbour is rubbish as well.
-
Not with hindsight no. When he had a worse goals and assists record per 90 than Martial it could have been argued. He's coming into his own now tough.
-
He has like. Hojlund is miles better than people give him credit for. I'm saying he has time on his side to get to Isak's level.
-
Still think it's the same.

We can trigger a year, but we haven't yet. So as of right now he can talk to and agree a contract with another club. If that was to happen, we can no longer trigger the extension. You would think it's coming this morning. Unless a new deal has already been agreed.

Amad available to discuss with other clubs as well. Lets see how that unfolds.

I've mellowed Rod out. He's a changed man.

How do we not get it? We didn't win a trophy for 6 years man!

I can't speak for us all, but in my opinion the first half hour is maybe the worst I've ever seen us play. For the Tonali shot against the post, you literally walked it in. It was embarrassing. Was impressed with Newcastle, but not at all surprised against that midfield. Think Mainoo made things harder for you, and he didn't give Tonali and Bruno G the same freedom and it was a bit tougher for you. Felt like you got a scare or two. Really good chance from Hojlund just past the post. Huge chance from Casemiro which he ballooned. From that point it felt like you backed off and were a bit naive. Big chances again for Yoro and Maguire hitting the post obviously. If one or two of those chances go in, it might have changed the game and you might have found yourself in bother when you had no need to be. Either way the better team won. Comfortably the better team. But that lack of killer instinct could haunt you against better teams.

Hope KI steals all your wine.

Yeah but I didn't start it.

Thread existed before I had a single post in the football section.
-
You've done well today. Could have had me in bits.

The famous Man United mate. Hated, adored, never ignored. Liverpool have a thread somewhere too.
-
To be fair we hadn't won the league in 25 years when I got my first top.
-
Aren't the 232 pages of this thread an indication of why?
-
Worth noting it wasn't me who compared them. I don't think they're comparable either. I do think Hojlund can get to a level where he's well worth the money paid. Saying that, maybe we're Hojlunds stepping stone. We're Sociedad.
-
That's called hindsight. Anyway, don't want to post in here anymore. Didn't even realise it was the Isak thread.
-
The question was about trophies. Let's not downplay winning trophies.
-
Spent six months at us and won a trophy. Best time of his life.
-
He did pick up and started playing well, but he's had another few horror shows this season. The goal he conceded against Forest was shocking and Wolves scored straight from a corner against him as well. Just weak as piss. He can pass like, I'm not going to take that away from him. He's just a fat midfielder.

Hojlund performed extremely well in Austria as a teenager as well. He's also 4 years younger than Isak. He was still an overpay/gamble (just like Isak), but Hojlund has plenty of time on his side.
