The total lack of strategy is staggering - they have had months to prepare for Rafa's potential exit and yet the only names they can come up with are the same old failures on the management merry go round. I find it hard to believe a supposedly good businessman would run a multi million pound company with this level of ineptitude and lack of imagination.

First signing Carroll - stadium packed for the return of the prodigal
-
Shirt looks like it may be too heavy for him - different clubs suit different players
-
Got a cracking pass on him and when he got his head up in the second half he looked like he can be dangerous offensively. Actually thought the centre midfield did pretty well but the glaring weaknesses elsewhere was the diifference between a loss and a draw.

If Ferdinand isn't the absolute definition of a bloke with an agenda I am not sure what is
-
Amazed ref didn't give a pen for that
-
True - craziest thing he wasn't even the worst sub today
-
Looks like he has no confidence at all - needs to get regular football like his brother but we are in no position to carry him
-
The only thing I can question Rafa for is the atsu sub - weird to keep faith with him when he has done nothing since he has been here and was incredibly bad today
-
Kind of tackle you make when you are tired - inexcusable otherwise and be maybe should been subbed - was poor for last twenty minutes but really good before that

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)

Faster, works hard , scores a few and Rafa loves him - had a great attitude when he was here aswell -
Looked bang average for Denmark
-
Agree - like him but that amount of time out with such bad injuries can't be good. Don't think he is made of glass like sturridge but it's a hell of a risk
-
Personally think Perez lacks a little physicality - does have some lovely flicks and tricks though
-
Ritchie has most assists - I like Perez but he is no winger - just think kenedy would be a great 10
-
Kenedy at 10 - Ritchie and Townsend on the wings would be devastating
-
probably wasting my time (as we won't sign anyone) but watched him alot last season and I think he is decent - bit underrated - very powerful maybe not as clinical as others but was always a handful - can deliver the occasional thunderbastard as well
-
Just gave the ref a decision - wasn't a pen but it was unnecessary to slide in as the ball was going out
-
Stupid slide tackle - he is having a bit of a mare

He's the one I would take. Would take Evans as well as a replacement for Mbemba if he could find a satisfactory explanation for the taxi fiasco, otherwise no. For a captain to get involved in something like that is pretty disgraceful. Would consider on Shaqiri or Choupu Moting if they were cheap. Same with Redmond or Bertrand, but I'd want them signed as squad players. Again slight questionmarks of the attitude of someone like Shaqiri. Tadic is the only Stoke or Southampton player I'd be very happy we signed. I'd take Cedric as well. was watching the game today and thought the same - great crossing and pace - looks like he reads the game well

Loves the club and has and still is making the most of his talent. Rather have a player with 8 out of 10 ability who will run through a brick wall for the team than a player who has all the attributes but half the attitude.

Was surprised he didn't get the hook for Murphy as I think the pace would have done them -
Had enough chances to be comfortable at half time, as it is we go in lucky to not be a penalty and a man down - need more of those through balls that Ritchie nearly got on the end of

What a tune - tremendous

What a conniving little arsehole Scholes has become. "Jonny is an old team mate of mine and a bloke I like, but lets put that to one side for a moment". Then totally fails to put it to one side for even a sentence in a horribly biased excuse of an article. That reads like some half-p*ssed online man utd blogger ranting to impress his mates. How a so-called 'quality' rag has the temerity to print that garbage is beyond contempt. Rightly gets short shrift from the comments section - disgraceful
