But that’s the point say it’s £60m and he has two good years for us and remains fit, with the continued fee inflation (thanks ESL6) there’s a good chance 31 year old Watkins still goes for £35M. Consequently wiping his face from a PSR perspective. It doesn’t generate any additional headroom no, but it doesn’t necessarily put us in a massive hole either
-
I absolutely get that, not all of that is entirely within the clubs control though. Hopefully recent events have made the like.y outcome of that clearer, but I have a suspicion we've not heard the last from the Scouse cunts yet. I was just pointing out that If we do go short-term fix on Watkins, it’s not necessarily the PSR nightmare others have described
-
Would it be that different to the Wood signing at the time? Came in did a job for us and was sold 18 months later for a fee that covered his remaining book value? I reckon we still get 25-30M for Watkins in 2 years time as long as he doesn’t turn into glass

It’s this which makes the Liverpool fans saying Isak isn’t worth £150M look like mugs to me. They literally paid £80m for a kid with one season of first team football in an inferior league, but at least the second best striker in the PL for the past 2.5 years isn’t worth more than 50% more than that. For that alone we should tell Liverpool to get fucked

Who this forum continually criticise for wanting PL proven players 🤷🏻♂️
-
Who in a lot of cases bought the "youngsters with potential" who loads on this forum want us to continually pivot to, most of which went on to flop massively
-
Can’t imagine how some of those on here would’ve survived on Skunkers like
-
I don’t believe we were ever actually in for this kid personally. All the talk earlier in the window was that Arsenal switched to Gyokeres due to his wage demands, I doubt we could afford his wages unless he’s had a significant change of heart on that front. This rumour always felt like it was journo’s seeing who was still available and making presumptions, rather than there being genuine interest on our part IMO
-
They also spent a shit ton in the 90’s and won very little. I dunno about everyone else but I don’t think they were great second half of last season. They’ve lost their main creator of chances and are going to have to completely change the way they play. There’s just as big a chance this goes tits up, as there’s a case of them dominating again

This alleged sell on fee grows by 5% every time it’s mentioned on here apparently
-
Guys you really think Craig Hope knows who's on our list? FFS don't feed the click machine, especially not the Daily Heil click machine

Given the circumstances around this, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of that rumoured sell on clause will be passed onto whoever is buying, by way of a higher fee. I also imagine Alex's recent behaviour might see him lose out on loyalty bonuses etc too. So if indeed there is a sell on clause, which I certainly can’t remember being reported on at the time of his signing, the club will try and mitigate that as far as possible. There’s no way he goes for the £120M Liverpool might want, it’s time for them to put up or shut up
-
Depends on if he club elected to amortise his fee over the full length of his contract or not, as the 5 year maximum came in the following year
-
Which is still only rumoured, also remember the £62M fee was also based on add ons, how many of these have been met? also £32M isn’t £44M is it?
-
We don't, obviously any sale price has to be offset against the remaining book value, but the OP clearly has a knackered calculator
-
Now, but we bought Isak before the PL changed it to be five years after Chelsea took the piss. So his fee could be amortised across the 6 years
