They might have, but Levy is never going to spend it
-
There's definitely a Catholic Church joke in there somewhere
-
From the sounds of it that was definitely the case for many pre-takeover, in that the bloody kick off got in the way of the drinking
-
Because Everton were initially docked 8 points for going over by 16 million, if we spent as you’re suggesting we’d be bloody relegated man 🤦🏻 Everton only managed to get their deduction reduced on appeal because they were the first ones punished. Forest's points deduction was even more ridiculous, given that it was essentially only down to when they chose to sell a player for maximum profit. if you think the punishments are going to ease off in future (without a rule change), then you’re naive. Unless you’re one of the "established" big 6 you’d be nailed to the wall for trying that shit.

They attacked both sides if you ask me, I think Livramento was equally exposed on a number of occasions. What really worries me about the weekend's game was just how quickly our entire midfield was bypassed. One or two relatively straight and predictable passes and they were In behind us time after time.

it’s what the ignore function is for

Although GDM has all made us look like twats, by reminding us that Hall's transfer only became permanent this summer too
-
Martins like a Thunderbastard or two too

Will be if it takes til the summer

I'm not sure they did, I think he got rattled because they were allowed to consistently get away with fouls, which he got picked up over. Lewis Cook in particular had a couple of tackles that were lucky not to injure someone, he had a habit of making it like a scissor challenge or having another swing with his trailing leg all game. It wasn’t why we lost but as mentioned in the ref thread, Atwell was utter bobbins

Pace at the back please, if today's game showed us anything it’s how one paced much of our team is outside of Tonali and the front 3

I genuinely don’t think elocution training is a thing for BBC presenters anymore, it’s just a natural softening of the accent when speaking to a different audience (or convergence if you want the sociolinguistic term), I mean everyone recognises we have a "phone voice" when speaking in a professional capacity for instance. It’s generally not even conscious a lot of the time, it just comes from a desire to be understood.
-
Yup it’s well studied in sociolinguistics, called convergence/divergence which is part of accommodation theory https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/9781118540190.wbeic082

They might be mates, but they’re not fellow Geordies are they? I find the idea that people aren’t aware that they alter their use of dialect and soften or harden their accent, depending on their audience are either thick, or disingenuous.
-
I mean I’d imagine he slots back into a Gosforth accent when on the lash with his mates, but tones it down when on National Media. I am pretty sure my accent has softened slightly after being in the RAF for 23 years, despite it remaining obvious which part of the country from which I originate. But not being funny if I hadn’t altered the way I spoke from leaving Bedlington Station, I’d not have been understood for most of my previous career. i imagine some would describe me as scenty bottle now, but I reckon throwing the odd bit of Doric that I’ve had to adopt in the new job would make me less intelligible than a pissed, toothless owld gadgie from Ershinton like hoo

Just popped into here to check if something had been announced tbh, as my YouTube feed was full of videos saying Mbuemo wants to move to Newcastle🤷🏻♂️

This ☝️ think of your own mates you played football at school with at 16/17 and how many you bumped into two or three years later and were suddenly massive. Physicality plays a big part in competitive sport and knowing how someone is going to physically develop at a young age will always include an element of guesswork. IMO Academy football shouldn’t be primarily about results, but be about teaching technique, skills, tactics and patterns of play.

He also said he knew nothing about Harvey Barnes signing, whilst Barnes was already with the squad. How many years of Eddie Howe's press conferences do we have to experience, before people understand he will never give anything away and will obfuscate plans, often and deliberately?
-
We potentially do, but there's no way Brentford are going to be open to selling him this window in the position they’re in. It’s as daft as some suggesting Isak would move if Arsenal clicked their fingers

Remember both Mitrovic and Luque having similar very near misses on their competitive debuts and thinking the same too. Mitro in particular was definitely trying too hard to score at times in the first season -
In fairness that downplays Isak's skill for finding space, he was left in similar acres of space by Arsenal's CB pairing, who are generally considered pretty decent. At what point does Isak's movement get the credit, rather than it always being shite defending?

I have them on my podcast playlist too, but they don’t do the rival fan chat in the run up to games etc.. which was the main things I enjoyed tbh, especially when it was Norman that hosted them

Thought he was really good against us in the first half at their place. But I did laugh when they were all saying Joelinton had to be sent off, as he had been every bit as physical and nasty as big Joe, but seemed to have a free pass from the ref to do so
