I don’t think he believed in the attacking elements of his game enough and he wasn’t aggressive enough with that part of his game. When he was on it, he was a fantastic player

He had excellent technical ability. Really good close control, there was nothing missing in terms of ability. Not an amazing athlete and not hungry to be the best player he could be

There’s definitely a Londoner arrogance to some of them. For the most part I think Londoners are no different from people who live elsewhere. However, Arsenal fans are probably the snobbiest going. These are big generalisations but I’d say your average Arsenal fan has far more of a passing interest in football when they’re not competing for the league. Disagree about decision making and concentration. Just think it’s down to footballing technique more than anything. Defensively, he was extremely good last season which shows he is switched on, he also makes loads of excellent late runs into the box. The issue is he can’t shield a ball well, he doesn’t have much passing range and he isn’t good at carrying the ball

Even accounting for that, Longstaff’s completion %s are taking a battering compared to the others, especially for medium and longer passes. Equally, if his passing stats are poor I’d be looking for other areas to be strong and that’s not the case apart from for blocks. I don’t tend to take a look at these types of stats regularly, only when I’m looking to assess whether my judgements seem to match up with something statistically. It’s hard to make an argument for what Sean’s giving the team currently and for this entire season. Last season, I’d like to see the comparators as he was an extremely useful runner, presser and tackler

These are the ones from this season? His passing stats across the board must be among the worst in the league for a midfielder? Probably just about the most important ability as a midfielder is passing. He’s able to do a short pass at absolute average level in the league and then is significantly below average at medium and long passes. If those stats are similar for last year then it’s quite something
