Awful decision by Barton, exceptionally poor by us that he's leaving on a free. Just another messy transfer
-
Feel sorry for the guy, you can call him a lesbian and take the piss out of his deflatable face but he's a decent enough guy. Much prefer him as a character over Kean, Allardyce, Dalglish, Martinez, Pulis

O'shea and Gardner will come good for them. Don't know about Ji, can see Brown wasting away after a season, think Larsson is average. It's just an uninspiring bunch that'll skunk about between 13-16th all season. In a game of Bruce's price is right there's no higher or lower, only lower

Absolutely agree, always thought this. I think managers think that if they put a youngster in and they fuck up then a lot of pressure will be on them as a manager, also, the player that was replaced is going to be raging in this scenario. However the paradox is, if the experienced guy made the same mistake as the youngster (like we've seen Smith do over and over) he doesn't singled out as being naive and such like. It's such a cop out and weak for managers to rely on senior players simply because they've done it before. Who cares if you've played over 200 PL games if you were redundant in half of them Fact is, if you're a better player or look odds on to be a better player, you should be on the pitch at least getting close to thirty mins a game.

The weird thing about Barton though Ian is, he can sulk and talk out endless mouthfuls of shit but it often doesn't affect how he plays on the pitch. The one thing which makes me think another year is the best course of action is the fact that he always gives everything on the pitch. Even if his game's not top he gives it all

Can strike the ball so sweetly off both feet. This lad needs game time, get to fuck Lovenkrands, Shola, do the decent thing and hand over the crown.

One of the few good things about twitter, gold every time

Let's be honest, how often does a player, on the day of his medical come out with the line 'I don't want to leave my club, my hands are tied'. It's not a ringing endorsement for the manager of the other club is it? It's pretty obvious Joey's doing everything he can to try and stick around

wow, nice one , let's get rid of all your 1st team players, there are worse teams in the league, we'll be fine. how s*** is that theory I don't think Shearmagic is making the claim it's a policy we should be upholding, simply he's making the point that it's close to inconceivable we'd get relegated. If you take a look at the players in our squad and measure them up against the other teams in the PL we should be between 8th-12. My bet for the season is 8th. One other point, don't mean to have a dig here but Tax, why do just use the word 'no' so often in replies. I fail to see what the point is as it's almost always ambiguous the point you're making
-
No chance of us getting relegated, absolutely ridiculous statement
-
Would be drown on my own vomit if we signed Cole. We don't need another disgrace
-
Will miss his determination if he goes, and attitude on pitch but will much prefer him fucking his life up in someone else's colours. Don't even know where I am on this anymore
-
Come on the lads, I fucking love every single one of you.
-
Pleased there's no Gardner more like. Could see him getting properly stuck into the derby, he's a decent player
-
Pleased about Obertan starting. Loven shouldn't be anywhere near our bench. Think Gosling could definitely give us something in the last thirty mins. I'll never understand this nonsense about Shola. will be amazed if he plays really well today

What a load of crap. You're very reasonable when you're arguing with a straw man. Of course, everyone who's complaining must lack objectivity. And we all believe in racking up debt and paying big money for unproven or joke players. f*** off. Absurdly defensive and needlessly aggressive. I never made the claim that everyone complaining lacks objectivity I merely said I was trying to see things objectively. I never even made the claim that I was seeing them objectively, just that I was trying. I also never made the claim that anyone was suggesting we rack up debt or pay big money for unproven/joke players. I made the point we've done so in the past and must avoid this in the future. If you don't like what I have to say, make some points, don't just tell me to fuck off

Bottle it or bottle him. Either one would do the job for me

Personally, I think we'll have a good season. We've been tight and twats in the transfer market and it's fucked us over on incomings but the business we've done has been decent. Ever since Hughton went Enrique was odds on to go and even if Hughton had stayed we really don't know what Enrique would have done. The barton business has pissed me off as it seems like we've had no idea what we're doing from the get go, we look as amateurish as always. However, if we sign a decent LB and striker then I'll go into the season positive. As for Pardew, I think he's done a good enough job, he can hardly stick two fingers up to the board, Hughton couldn't do it. The only person who did it was KK and we know where that got him and us. I'm crying out for someone who cares about the club to be in charge like you HTT but in spite of that, I'm willing to judge things as objectively as I can at present. In terms of Ashley's long-term plan, I honestly believe cutting the wage bill, getting rid of ridiculous contracts for joke players and not paying big money for players who are completely unproven at PL level is the only way to move forward. I don't want to see ridiculous investment and see us just racking up the debt. As long as we invest enough to get in quality at LB and a striker's position, whether that's £10M or up to £15 (no way will we go over) then I'm not complaining, it's sustainable and every signing so far has been promising. In spite of this, if they honestly think they can go into the new season without a new LB or striker come the end of the window or they get rid of Tiote, Colo or to a lesser extent Barton, I will lose it as will the vast majority

Tayls is absolute comedy like, he's becoming an indispensable source of jokes. Want to see him stick around, improve and become a geordie legend
-
I'm not one of these overhyping the lad, I like him but think he's got a lot to prove. I just think for this game against Sunderland he can definitely make a big impact
-
Fair point, if there's not a new LB in, we will need Guti there
-
We'll see who has the biggest impact on the day. I'd be surprised if Cabaye imposes himself and I like Guti, he runs all day, has good work rate and holds the ball up so well but I still think Obes is more likely to create goalscoring opportunities than him
-
I'd drop either Guti or Cabaye for the game. I'd play Obertan on the left if Guti was out of the team and Obes on the right if Cabaye was out of the team. I'm really looking forward to seeing Cabaye develop but I think in this game the pace will be too much for him to impose his passing game. Obertan is the perfect player in this game for counterattacks
-
Don't think that's fair to be honest, think Colocho gets hounded a bit too much. I'm sure he watches loads of football just sometimes puts his point across in a way people don't like.
-
No question about it, Obertan should be starting, Best and Ba up front. If Shola gets more than thirty minutes It's a joke. People can enjoy their Shola love-in about how well he's played against Sunderland in the past but really it means fuck all. Both Best and Ba are better players
