  1. Alan Judge is a winger, surely? What's all this centre mid talk?
  2. Desperately need a winger, that can come in and contribute right away. So we look to sign someone who probably won't play again this calendar year? Seems a bit odd. I remember him looking good and scoring a few for Brentford, going off of SSN highlights and I think one Friday night game last season. I hope we'd still be looking to sign another winger, that has both his legs intact.
  3. Well if he really is a centre back, he'll do well for Pulis. He loves playing 4 centre backs and 4 centre mids.

From the 4 minutes of highlights I have seen of our last 3 games and from the Fulham game. He looks a bit nervous and shit at dealing with crosses. Has palmed shots straight to the opposition on 3 occasions, I think. Bit hard to judge how good/bad he is, based on the Fulham game and very limited highlights, though. It is a bit of a worry, that it is being discussed by Rafa and the media, though.
  5. Except unlike the majority of players with that style. He has a load of class, ability and a great technique? What an odd thing to have a problem with. An attacking player, who scores and creates goals, but also works his arse off.

  7. They would have played in Europe a lot under Rafa, though. Also, TBF, it's hard to rotate wide players, when we only have two genuine wingers and I think only one of them is starting quality.
  8. I thought Hanley did okay in the opener, it was Lascelles who dropped the clanger. He could do with an extra yard of pace by the looks of it, but defensively he looked quite solid. Well, actually it was Dummett rugby tackling Lascelles
  9. If he carried on playing well and playing for a move, then yeah. If he started sulking and half arsing it, which I think is quite likely. Then no. We saw that for long spells last season. Although in fairness, he started working his arse off once Rafa arrived.
  10. He looked more mobile than Mitrovic and showed some really deft touches and nice link up play. His finishing didn't look great, though and there certainly were a load of pens in the videos I watched. Most of the first video, was him missing free headers and decent chances
  11. Passing side to side and then ending up lumping it forward, when you have no options, was more what I was referring to. I've seen that a lot in recent years watching us!
  12. We need hoofball. Got it. No we don't. Yeah, because getting crosses into the box and hoof ball, are the same thing
  13. Sound like Brendan Rodgers, but the stats were a bit worrying. They seemed to have far more of the ball and had a lot more passes and crosses. Obviously, we needed a response and the result is the most important thing. But I was surprised to see that in a home game, we didn't dominate possession and chances created. Of course, I haven't seen the game. So a lot of it could have just been them passing it about at the back, like we used to do under Pardew. I don't care if 4-1 flattered us, mind. Desperately needed a win of some sort and it's nice we managed to pour it on. Should help us settle and give the players a bit of belief.
  14. Not trying to stick the knife in more, as I haven't seen the game. So it's a bit unfair to pass comment. But I don't see how you've reached that conclusion? He had an awful touch and then panicked trying to make amends. Looking at that picture above, they're hardly nailed on to score from open play? If he went and closed down, he has Mbemba next to him and every one else seems to be in a reasonably good position? Would have to curl it right into the bottom corner, with nothing to aim at. Or zing it across to the guy at the far post, for him to hit first time, before Dummett gets out there.
  15. He's played one competitive game, the odd pre season appearance and the Charity Shield. Not really a fair sample size. But like you say, he should be too good to just flop.
  16. This rumoured valuation is irrelevant. If teams were interested, there would have been bids below the amount and enquiries about how much we would let him go for. So say we allegedly want £35m. Do you think clubs are going to think "Oooh, we really want Sissoko. But I don't think we should even bother bidding £20m-£25m, or even waste time talking to NUFC. That supposed valuation that may or may not be accurate, is just too steep." Yet again, people are having to explain to you how negotiating works thick as mince. Anyway, Sky could easily be wide of the mark on the 'no enquiries, no bids' line. As someone else pointed out, Rafa himself said there had been movement/talks this week, regarding him leaving.
  17. Best GIF on here in ages. Hicks and Apone
  18. A few on here still believe Graham Carr isn't responsible for our current woes though. He is and he isn't. The previous transfer policy of only buying players with re-sale value and trying to get perceived bargains from abroad, was as much to blame. Couldn't sign anyone over 26-28, could we? Carr has had hit on some, but had some spectacular misses, as well.
  19. Bit worried that it seems like we are having to sell to buy. Seems like perhaps the Sissoko deal that is holding everything up? According to Transfer League, our net spend is £3.8m. Not really portrayed that way in the media and by other fans. Everyone outside of Newcastle, seems to think we're trying to buy the Championship. When in reality, basically stood still and the squad hasn't improved that much. Just seems mental that we wasted £70-£80m last season. Now we have a proper manager and are desperate to get back up, and we're reluctant to loosen the purse strings.
  20. The Gouffran ran ran down the left and right flank, at the same time. Assuming it would be Ritchie and Gouffran? I hope we don't see that team. I know Rafa is renowned for making regular changes. But if that were the team, or something similar. It would seem like he is making fairly drastic changes. Bit of a worry, so early in the season. Then again. It would be preferable to previous regimes. Where nobody was held accountable and the same awful players started games, week in, week out.
  21. He's proven himself to be utter dogshit for us and I don't think he has featured at all under Rafa, apart from sitting on the bench a few times? Hasn't had a look in pre-season, has he? Not even sure he is fit or has been training the whole time?

I'm not sure that place is reflective of most mackems, like. Whilst I have met my fair share of RTG types. I have met plenty of sound ones, and all.
