Despite his size, I think Ba could potentially play off Best. Ok so he's not the quickest, but he seems to make or at least attempt much more intelligent runs than the others. 3 or 4 times on Sunday Lover could and should have got on the end of a Best flick on, but he was flat on his heels or just not in the same county as his strike partner. Ba after a massive big bowl of spaghetti washed down with 3 powerades could be the answer. There is the possibilty, he makes more intellignet runs than Obertan for instance, who just stands watching the flick ons. I would like to have someone a bit quicker though to hit on the break and pull defenders wide, so maybe Marveaux could be considered. Until we see Ba up to full speed it's hard to assess him really. I would also like to see Marveaux given a chance playing off the striker, especially away from home. A 3 behind Ba or Best of Marveaux, Obertan and Jonas is a pretty damn good idea, still got HBA to come back as well I think the resident Sylvain Marveaux expert disagrees about him playing centrally though?

I was going to right pretty much the same thing ,if Pardew had any balls he would walk away imho but we dont know what sort of hold they have over him (casino debts) or he might not give a s*** and take one for the boys .His press conference will be very interesting and hopefully the red tops will give him the right questions and make him squirm and rightly so. Previously, we've worked around that at free kicks, and not asked him to mark any of the better headers of the ball among the opposition. This season I don't think we've been protecting him so much and it cost us yesterday. It nearly cost us at Scunthorpe. Nolan and Barton were quite good at helping out at set pieces so maybe we've not got much choice. But if it's about Colo becoming captain and feeling he needs to set a good example then we need to think again. yup, two errors, one at scunthorpe where a poor clearance by him, they put back into the box and they scored, then yesterday he was nowhere near the man he was meant to be marking who got a free header. I think we need a centre back more urgently than a forward TBH. If Taylor or Colo got injured at QPR, we could face up to 5 or 6 games with Simpson or Perch at centre half. Kadar seems to have been banished from Newcastle! If that Bassong rumour is true, I'd be pretty happy TBH, even after previously stated I would want him nowhere near the club. Probably BS though.

Buzzing to see this lad play. Only slight concern is him being predominantly (sp) right footed. However, I'm sure he will use the outside as well as cutting in. If Jonas/Marveaux/HBA keep the width, then it shouldn't be a huge problem. If they start drifting in field as well it could become an issue IMO. Still can't believe we've signed this kid though. Thought we had no chance of getting a player like Santon.

It's not so much that I don't rate him. I think he's a talented youngster, a bit unproven at this level mind. I just don't see the point in improving a player from another team in the league. People will complain that we didn't play him enough (Rossi), or he'll just fuck off back to Man U at the end of the season and look decent for them (Welbeck). We really should have had our own striker in a long time ago. It's likely that Macheda will just take the place of Sammy or Vuckic on the bench and hinder their development. At least with Sturridge you know you'll get goals and he'd start every week, and if we got PVA we'd have a chance of signing him at the end of the loan. Probably the only two loan deals I'd be keen on.
