Rafa might be the perfect manager to get him playing at his best again. If he can instil some positional discipline in him and get him just keeping it simple like he did when he first arrived here he could be a very important player for us again. Think we still need another CM with a bit of creativity and a willingness to break forward like Rob Lee used to though. I don't think Shelvey can do that job, he seems to like to sit too deep and, in all honesty, seems a bit lazy.

I remember reading somewhere that he was pretty struck by the reception the team got on the last day last season and that had influenced him to stay and give it a chance. He seems the type who isn't willing to put up with a lack of ambition or second rate bullshit so you'd hope that getting Rafa in and showing that we want to get back to the PL and actually try and compete would have an effect on him. I like him as a player so I hope he stays and buys into what Rafa is trying to do. Could be an influential voice in the dressing room.

So good having a proper, respected, influential manager again. Reminds me of what the players used to say about speaking to Keegan or Sir Bobby, just being in their company and talking to them could lift you and inspire you. Lascelles, Hayden, Mitro. A decent spine of young lads who all seem to have heart and a good attitude.
