  1. Bring on the carthorses. 10 defenders + Krul
  2. Must feel shit getting dropped when you're playing well. Not sure what this lad needs to do to get a run in the team.
  3. I voted 'no' thus proving my extensive football knowledge and deep understanding of the game. The fact I voted today changes nothing
  4. Deluded geordies Happy new year all! Looking forward to our CL qualifier in the summer
  5. I think there's some buttons and stuff you press when you make the thread.

In my opinion they'll either stay up or go down. The points margin will be somewhere around 0-50 points and they'll play betweeen 10 and 50 league games, the majority of which will be played on a green or near green surface and involve a ball or other existing object of some kind. Said object will probably be composed of matter and will possibly not be a sherry trifle. All imo of course.
  7. It'll be 'new post wanker' next then. Or inochi syndrome as it's better known.
  8. An 8 game ban for biting isn't football related?
  9. I'm sure we could make a lovely heat map to show this. One massive red spot on the bench where ben arfa sits.
  10. I don't even think anyone rates him anymore, you just get the odd person who wants to say he deserves a chance but they always go too far with it. I don't know why they bother tbh. Can't believe it's been brushed into 'well we are where we should be' with very few praising the revival of both manager and players. Revival from what, Brett? Do you think people were angry last season because they thought we should be finishing 14th instead of 16th? Well shock f***ing horror, people who thought we should finish 6th - 8th get p*ssed off when we finish 16th but don't crawl up the managers ringpiece when he performs to par. To show mental strength to come back from a horror season. If your going to say in the summer, this season will be exactly the same as last maybe slightly better, but then we revive ourselves to the prediction you had for last season, that should be praised for turning it around and getting back on course. Shouldn't be glossed over simply because it's where we should be, still not easy to get in this position. Pardew and the players have stepped up to mark and improved their ways. Players like Williamson/Tiote showing their capabilities again, Debuchy/Sissoko/Gouffran adapting better and return to form for likes of Cabaye/Colo. We’ve done very well to get ourselves in this position at the half way stage and it should be praised. Righto, gloss and excuse when doing shit, fawn and praise when doing ok, got it. Well done, Alan, for taking this squad of quality players and not almost relegating them. I'm ever so impressed with the way you've managed to get us to midtable especially after the massiive pile of dump that was last season.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

That's one interpretation. I don't think it fits the repeating trend we see with Ben Arfa though. His pass/touch percentages.... http://i44.tinypic.com/30m5ycj.jpg He plays a few games in a row and reverts to his natural style of doing it all himself. Pardew then intervenes and hammers it in his head to pass. He comes back and pases more than the game that led to him being dropped...but soon goes back to what he wants to do if he keeps getting on the field which is everything himself. The pattern becomes more pronounced as the season goes on and he gets frustrated at not playing (especially after a good performance), but I don't think the end product we saw in one game against 9 men has led to any greater or lesser amount of greed, it's just the way he'll always be. Your chart actually shows a rising trend when he starts a few games in a row and a falling trend when he's a sub, exactly as folk on here have been saying. Do you even stat?
  13. Why do clubs agree to these stupid clauses? Must be some of the most shortsighted people in the world.
  14. Sure it was mentioned a while ago that he has really found it hard to settle over here, think Pards rates him he just can't seem to get him feeling right. Sure we will sell him for his benefit as well as ours. Not having Pardew rates him, there is not a single reason in the entire world for Obertan to play or be on the bench ahead of him. Obertan is the worst player i've ever seen for us in a long time. For Pardew to prefer Obertan above Marveaux says it all about how much Pardew rates Marv. Horses for courses like. I'd rather Obertan than Marveaux if my team was in the lead and coming under a bit of pressure, due to his pace on the break (I'm aware of his limitations btw, but it does push defences/teams back and provides an out ball). If my team were behind and I needed a bit of magic breaking the opposition down it would be Marveaux every single time. Neither are starters for me, but both should be on the bench when fit. I keep hearing this about obertan but never seem to see it actually work in practice. Apart from that one game (Blackburn?)
  15. Dunno if I'm old or just lazy but I'd rather sit than stand for 90 minutes.

    Merry Christmas!

Merry christmas everyone Up, down but always UNITED
  17. Much much better squad, city, stadium, fans, women, directors, beer, stewarding, catering and air though.
  18. I don't think chopping and changing the team as much as we did last season helps either. Fair enough, maybe rest one or two against the dross if needed but switching out virtually the whole first XI makes it harder to build momentum and cohesion imo.
  19. More chance of Mike off here getting a call up.
  20. Don't call him names. Mike cuts himself when we call him names.
  21. I think you need to watch more football.
  22. Thought Mourinho didn't have a defined style?
