  1. I've been waiting to post this - but have waited until the cup game was over - so here goes. After last years shite start to the season, then with Howe coming in, doing wonders and getting us to a finishing position of 11th this years 'initial' thread was the "relegation-o-meter" and we all put in our 'predictions'. Not for one minute would I except from anyone that they would predict us to be top 4 by Christmas. Now there were a series of factors that have helped our position - Liverpool and Chelsea not performing, so Manure can be said to have done that for the first half of the season, and then put together with other teams all being of the same calibre - Brighton, Fulham, Spurs etc - all these teams were drawing against each other, whilst we happen to be winning more, which has lead us to the position over Christmas of being in the top 4. Wow - top 4 - then the thread 'changed' to 'Top-4-ometer', and the predictions have come in for that, and people are now thinking of what could be - but this position needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. It's not that I'm not liking, or not wanting to finish in the top 4, but personally, I think we'll finish in the top 10, at best a Europa league place - reasoning, as other have mentioned, lack of squad depth, players tired, other teams performing better. Now to some this might be a 'waste' and 'failure' but as other have said, it gives us something to build on, as getting into the champions league would, in my opinion, be a disaster, as with all the extra games, we'd finish 3rd or 4th. I see it, as an ongoing, evolving situation, play well, finish good league position, attract better players, repeat - and one day, hopefully some time soon - we will be a top 4 finisher - and deserve our place in whatever competition - and may those times last.
  2. Shitty play Bristol City in the cup on tuesday night - so they'll probably put out the Z team for that - so all their major players will be rested unless something fucks up on tuesday night and some of them get a 20 min run out. So expecting a defeat, margin - you can't be sure with city nowadays as they seem to be 'too precise' with their playing, 3-1 at a guess.
  3. I was there yesterday dinner time and it was weird to see two, what looked like Syrian factions, going at it with stereo systems, I think who had the loudest won !!!
  4. Was in London today, now back at home in South Cheshire, saw a few toon fans on my travels. If these are you then have a good day tomorrow - One guy in pret near Berkley Square 6 people in th middle of covent garden. An the dozen or so fans cheering on euston Station concourse. On the train down spoke to a united fan who told me of their ticket arrangements, and you think ours was badish. So ours was 5 games and st, then 4 and St and so on. Their's was had to attend ALL cups games at home, both lc and fa cup, and be a season ticket holder. That meant there were 41,000 people were in the draw for 35,000 tickets, that meant 6,000 people missed out at the first attempt.

  6. As much as my heart is hoping for a win, my head is saying we'll lose, and it will either a drubbing 4-0 or a close defeat 1-0. I also hoping that my head is wrong. But I wish all that go have a great time of things. I'm actually in London the day before so will keep an eye out for any fans.

  9. I feel sorry for the guy, I mean he's no rashford / wilson etc, but if he had scored for the number of times he's hit the post/bar etc then people would be singing his praises, and it's only for the fact that he hasn't that people aren't. I mean I'm not hearing as much negativity to ASM - or may be i've missed something.

  14. I think Eddie has seen that utd are improving so why leave them with a decent keeper, why not give them another headache if de gea get injured etc, to think about. I mean there can't be that many keepers that can fit the bill ?
  15. Would that be dependant on the game being on TV or are there locations that show the games by way of 'dubious' streaming services. ( Not that I use or promote the use of such services ).
  16. How come some instagram posts I can see - and others - like this one - it asks me to sign up ? any one any ideas - is it how the link is posted ?

  19. Whilst I'm loving where we are at at present, and don't get me wrong - may it last forever, I've a small seed of doubt about our overall performances, so the away game at Arsenal will be a good pointer as to where we 'actually' are with regard to team playing and strengths. If you were to ask me how the season, as a general whole, for all teams is going, then I'd say that the 'usual suspects' aren't playing at their best (Liverpool earlier in the season - good example) - which is making us look good - hence the comment above about the Arsenal game. Personally - I think we'll end up some where in the top 7, and I'd really like us to get to a cup final - that then would be a catalyst for the future as then being able to attract a better calibre of player.
  20. My world cup form is still with me - as on 24 pts with one game to go.
  21. Brentford 1 v 2 Spurs Palace 2 v 0 Fulham Everton 1 v 1 Wolves Leicester 1 v 3 Newcastle Southampton 1 v 2 Brighton Villa 1 v 2 Liverpool Arsenal 3 v 0 West Ham Chelsea 3 v 1 Bournemouth Man United 4 v 0 Forest Leeds 1 v 4 Man City
  22. First - A BIG thank you to Magpie for doing this - you are a gent for doing this in your own time. Second - Well done to Magpie (for winning) and everyone else who took part. Third - I hope I can now take this form into the Weekly predictions (as I'm in need of some divine inspiration). Fourth - Are we on for 2026 ? Fifth - Are we also on for the Euro's in 2024 ?
