Read with interest, then came across the dreaded word 'crypto currency' - fuck that for a game of soldiers - never touched them and (fingers crossed) never will. If we go down this road - what actual 'influence' do you think we would have, probably not a lot apart from changing the music for when we score a goal (when we score - no playing writes for that composer).

Caption time - JT (Shouts out loudly in no specific direction) - 'I'm coming for you boy.' ASM (Not making eye contact) - Says to himself - 'If I slowly walk away in this direction he'll go for someone else'

How many people a couple of years ago would have said that Luke Shaw would be a regular in the England team ? Just look at the difference a change of manager has done for his confidence and that's all it is - confidence - get behind the team, players and manager - that's all that's needed - the rest is down to them.
-
OK, if these are the badges previously used - then my thoughts are - 1. Well too over dramatic, and no reference to the team name. 2. Looks good, but slightly on the 'basic side'. 3. Looks like it something a bunch of monkeys would have come up with. 4. Nice, stylish and to the point. If there were any 'redesign' to be done - would be a cross between 1 and 4, where you'd have more detailed 'horses' on each side, with a more 'elegant, but readable' team name. But if we were to stay with one - then it's no 4 for me.

You always want to look at the fringe players, that before others joined, or themselves were good at other clubs are now subs etc. but also Ross Barkley for me. Plus any from this list that take your fancy - https://www.premierleague.com/news/2247219 Interesting to note the HGP (Home Grown Player) rule

Agreed. To me the reason the big 6 have big deals is that those sponsors are global, and as those teams are in europe then that advertising works, there's no point being in europe and then having a sponsor of 'Mick's fish and chip shop' from down the road, and being an international company, then it's just peanuts in their global advertising budget to have a sponsorship deal of that size. One of the first things, as a club, we should then be trying to do is to get into any european comp, to enhance our presence, also as well, now we have new owners is to expand our support base, perhaps go to some of these pre-season far flung trips. Then, and perhaps only then, we will be able to get a really good sponsorship deal.

Just seen this article on the BBC - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59213173 Just a general question - Under the old managers how did the team get to far flung places like Southampton, Cardiff etc. I remember see a coach at Wigan when Pardew was manager. and how do the team currently get to games - eg Brighton last week ? And do you think for the longer trawls - Norwich, Southampton, or those that involve a long coach trip (namely all of them apart from Leeds), do you think the new owners will indulge in flying ? or will it be travelling on the day or day before ?
-
Taken it - £2 at 100/1 top 6 finish - well it's free money. nothing ventured - nothing gained - nor lost as it's a free bet.
-
ok, betting people - what you would think of our chances of getting into the top 6 by the end of the season ? Have a free bet - and noticed that on some sites you can get 28/1 to finish in the top half - but my page is showing 100/1 top 6 ?

Newcastle United vs. Brentford: 20/11/21 @ 3pm (No UK TV)

The more I hear about Howe, the more excited I get, the more I feel that we are going to be let down big time. But in checking their results - they are on a 4 premiership game losing streak - which means they probably are lacking confidence. Then in typing this, it makes me feel like it going to be a first win for us. So I'm going with 3-1, after going 1 down soon into the game. But what will be will be. Damn, it's along time til next Saturday afternoon - roughly - 8 Days, 22 hours, 45 odd minutes. That's 214 hours or 12888 minutes, or 773,233 seconds - at the time of typing. -

It going to be interesting as the first game is against Brighton, and apart from some slack defending on Liverpool's front or was it slack finishing, and then some slack defending on theirs, they Brighton would be on a 2 game winning streak. Put that up against a 5 game losing streak - and it has away win all over it. 1-3 BHA -

Have to laugh, in the express last Saturday, there was a story in the 'Ahead of the Game' section, on how Sky have missed to the 'boat' to say on not being able to broadcast the first game in charge of Conte at Spurs. This was because of the fixtures being done in advance. It then went on to say that this is the second time it has happened in the they missed Ronaldo's first game for Man Utd. Now they'll miss Eddie's first game against Brentford. It now looks like they'll miss Gerrards game at Liverpool. Hopefully they'll also miss the new manager at Norwich as well. And also, as they have the scottish league - the first game of the new Rangers manager. It wouldn't surprise me that they write something into their contract next time saying 'if you sack your manager you can't appoint anyone until the start of the next TV games window'. -

I hope Villa sink like the fucking Titanic, a long and slow tormenting departure from this league. -
Does anyone remember going to this game - My house, at the time, was about 1 mile away from the ground and I could here the cheers (from the Alex fans) as when the goals went in. Must have been crazy in that away end, like sardines in a tin. This was the 2nd leg, we won/lost 1-0. Didn't actually go as it was a long drive on a tuesday night - and I had a banger of a car at the time.

To be honest I do care that we are associated with this type of 'badness'. I use the word 'badness' as there are a lot of companies / countries out there that 'preach' on one hand, yet on the other they aren't doing what you would call the common 'good'. This common good covers all aspects of life, the universe and everything. For an example, I work for a company, as part of Covid we've not been allowed into our site offices, so working from home, as the restrictions have been lifted an office or two has come open. I has to go to one the other week, and when I went in, half the site had been cleared ( it must be said at this point that I didn't visit this site often). I asked someone, where all that stuff gone ? they replied, 'Oh, they've shipped all to xxxx (won't say where as thinking this might get me in the shit)'. Why ? 'Oh what they are making doesn't comply with some EU regulations so they've moved the manufacturing elsewhere' So my company has knowing moved manufacturing of something elsewhere because it would likely cost to much to move to a cleaner product - so instead they moved to somewhere where there weren't the same regulations. So you can imagine that for all of the 'owners' of all of the (top) football clubs around the world - how many of them have 'clean fingers' - I would say none of them. Only those that are owned by trusts etc will probably have a 'cleaner' bill of health, but then that may not be any fault of their own - ie - having a bank account with a bank that has ties to laundering. How far do you take this ? At the end of the day, all you, we, can do is press these owners through actions - don't buy their food, oil, gas etc - then changes will happen. As an actual point - in Afghanistan, thousands are dying - but no aid being sent - because the rulers are discriminating against women, children etc, I know it's hard to watch and understand, but I do agree with these actions - there is no place in the world for rules from a bygone era being in place in todays world.

There are probably 'millions' of webpages currently doing the rounds, but this one is of slight interest to this thread - as I tried to find out what 'system' Eddie 'normally' uses. https://thefalse9.com/2021/11/newcastles-predicted-4-4-2-formation-if-eddie-howe-is-appointed-as-manager.html

Yes, but looking at it the ball originally went across and was then brought back to the middle - but I take that, yes, this was down the middle. I think what we saying is a type of goal that breaks from our half - and then results in a goal from 'down the middle'. They I feel are few and far between.
-
Yes, as I saw a you tube clip of some training, and there was the impression of 'crossing' over as you describe, I think this something that has been lacking in recent 'years'. As for when you read or hear how we score (when we do) a goal, it always seems to me that the play has been down either wing, or from a set piece. Does anyone know the last time we scored when the play when 'down the middle' ? (In advance of replies pointing out the error of that statement - I stand corrected).

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Will Still Southampton manager
South-Cheshire-Toon replied to cp40's topic in Football
I've had it on good authority that (like a lot of these so called managers) he only went up there ( to Rangers ) to boost his ego. Apparently his wife still lives in Liverpool, so not made the effort to move. Perhaps this could be to do with the fact that I believe that they are both Catholic's and every week (when playing at home at least) the Rangers fans sing anti catholic songs. Would you have taken the position in the first place ? if being of a religious nature ? TBH, with all that has been said and done, and with regard to our managers position and all of the hype that was generate by it, I hope it all goes pear shaped and they get relegated (for all of the 'managers' that took a look and then said 'No' - Wankers the lot of them). -
That's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. LMFAO.

There's some background to this post, and I’ve delayed posting it until the new manager was appointed, and now this has happened I can post my thoughts (bottled up since Bruce went) on the recent goings on. Some of the below may seem irrelevant but hopefully you will see where I’m going with it. How I fell in Love in Newcastle and the new Future. To begin with, when I was a kid, many years ago, as being in South Cheshire it was that you supported either your local team Crewe Alex (unknown of to me at the time) or you support Liverpool or Man Utd, well I was 8 years old. At school you were either a Liverpool Red or a Manchester Red, though I do remember seeing Garth Crooks (was then at Stoke) at our primary school for some reason, and so it was Liverpool for me. Fast forward 15 years, Crewe (whom I 'found' and started to follow (had to “Alex on tour in 1994” t-shirt after we got promoted for the first time (at all))) were playing Liverpool in the, then 2-legged, league cup. We lost 5-1 at Anfield and are then losing 4-0 at home. Picture the scene. it's the 88th min, 4-0 up, and the scouse twats (as they have become to be called) are holding the offside line about 2 metres from the halfway line. I was livid, here's my hometown team getting beat, all you could do would be for us to have one 'bit' of madness and let us score but oh no. So, I thought fuck them - the scouse twats. (we did actually score in the 90th minute- that fucked up their match bonuses). OK, so I’m now short of a team to support in the top league, and after a look around (honestly, I did way up all of the options) it wasn't going to be Utd, nor city, none from the midlands. I needed a team that no matter what the score if they 'tried' and 'played with honesty' then that was good enough from me. And up popped Newcastle, this was circa 1996-ish I think - and that was it I was hooked. It wasn't until much later that I managed to get to some games, thanks in part to LFEE, to whom I’ll be always grateful in getting me a ticket or two. Praise and Grumble As I’ve said, I live in south Cheshire, and our local BBC station is Radio Stoke-on-Trent (SOT), as based in SOT there is a lot of bias to the main team Stoke, then Port Vale, then Crewe. So, we were always on AM, the vale on DAB and Stoke on FM (seems they started with Stoke on DAB but there weren't enough clay heads with DAB radios, so they moved it back). Even when Crewe were higher in the leagues (and still are, but only just) we are on AM. Any way after the games on a Saturday have finished there's a 'praise and grumble' radio show, where people can phone in and give their '2 cents' worth. So, at after 6 or so game Stoke are in a good position, the father-in-law was listening one week and the wording was 'This Guy’s great' referring to Michael O’Neill, 'Give him a 20-year contract - we're going places with him'. So, all rosy in the Stoke Shitty camp. Fast forward to a couple of games ago, the shitty are 3-0 up against Cardiff, and then proceed to concede 3 in the last 15 minutes to draw 3-3. Well, there weren't much praising going on, reading between the line - 'Get rid of the fucker' 'he doesn't know what he's fucking doing'. My, how things can change. F1 In the past I also followed F1, mainly when the BBC had it (not paying for Sky in a month of Sundays - fuck that right off). Anyway, in an interview once, Max Mosley said that he'd like to have the championship run as follows, and I’ll try to explain - basically - there would be 20 'teams' with 20 'drivers', and there would be 20 'rounds'. So, the idea was that each driver would drive at each round for a different team. that way the 'best of the best' would be the champion (in a similar why to how the card game bridge can be played). Overrated Managers Now looking at the recent hype regarding Favre, ten Hague, Conte, Jose M, Gerrard etc, prior to the appointment we all thought any one of them plus all of the others could be the next manager, but looking back on things, as it appeared that at that moment in time they were regarded as "good managers". I would disagree. Look at thing now I think none of them are good managers, they are managers of a calibre that can introduce something new to a team and get them to play better - but aren't or don't want to have the thought that if things go 'bad' then they could get 'egg on their faces' if the team they manage then gets relegated. This doesn’t make them a good manager; it makes them become ‘money followers’ by way of saying ‘Look how good I am’. With the recent sacking of Villa’s Smith, Gerrard has come to the front of the betting to be the next manager, now whether or not this happens, and whether or not Gerrard makes any ‘moves’ to deny or confirm this, but it shows that some of these so called ‘managers’ only will move to a team where there is not as great a chance of going down than others. Not always does the best means the best In reference to the F1 situation, all of these managers want the best car, best team and best driver and as soon as anything changes with this – bang – there out of there like sloppy shit on a shiny silver shovel. It doesn’t always mean that if you have a team of the best then all the goods will come your way, just take a look at the goings on at Man Utd, god knows how much spent – and do they look like they are all working and moving in the right direction – to me – No, as there are too many ego’s to be hyped up, lived up to, and too many to mention. They’re all wankers anyway. These are the types of people you don’t want as your manager – you want a manager that sticks with the task through thick and thin. And with Eddie I think we've got a person who can see the best in people, get the best out of people, play attractive football and move this club in a direction it needs to go. I'd only be happy for Eddie to be here in 5,6 or 7 years and, all being well, we're in some cup final - and the manager of the opposition is one of the above named and we rub it right in their faces - twat's the lot of them. Not kicked a ball yet As I mentioned the Stoke story, I think some of the so called 'fans' are expecting too much, too soon, and in all honesty, I think it will be hard for us to attract the really high calibre of player this soon into the new ownership, but I think we need to give Eddie time and come the end of the season what will be will be. But to those 'fans' slagging Howe off before he's even got a single player to kick a ball, using the 'he sent Bournemouth down' ticket then you need to wake up and get a grasp on reality, and smell the roses as at present they are living in cloud cuckoo land, as it’s always the same - people only see the bad or the failings that other have done, not the good as in Bournemouth getting promoted from Division 1 to the Premiership - and then staying there for 5 years (or whatever it was). You don't always need a team of 'great' players, too many egos to control, but if you get a good group of players all pulling in the right direction then great things can happen. Here's a big hello to Eddie Howe - Manager of the greatest football team in the world, may he long be in charge. Now that's a big chip off my shoulder. Keeping it toon, SCT

Just for a laugh here - but didn't we have the 'new owners lift' for the spurs game - ah, but that was when fat twat Bruce was in charge. I have no sentiment for any of a previous managers. I know that it was a hard task to perform with that c**t Ashley at the helm, but still the same they could have put some sort of effort into at least trying to win a game. -
So it looks like every twat south of the tyne is putting their 1 pennys worth of droll into wishing us the worst of health and getting relegated. Also from some of the comments sounds like they haven't a fucking clue as to what they are talking about.

I see the BEEB website is very quickly on the ball with this one, seems they had someone there with their finger on the 'send' button for the last 5 days. LOL. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59172217

OK, I'm not up with things of that nature, ie people with a blatant disregard and disrespect for the club. In things about it there was the twitter picture on the BBC sports page of howe speaking to someone on his left. Looking at the 90 min link it's the same guy. So looks like you said deal done - just waiting for the official press release.
