  1. This blew my mind the other week too when I found out about it. Makes the whole "11pm deadline" even more tacky and a bit strange that clubs rush to make 1 last signing when they literally have all season to discuss fees and contracts
  2. There are so many different scenarios in how we can make top 4. Including a defeat to Brighton at home. At this moment in time I would say in order our easiest games are - 1. Leicester (H) - has to be 3 points here. Failure to do so is simply not good enough. 2. Chelsea (A) - We can get 3 points here. Would be disappointed if we didn't but a point could well be enough. We should not be getting beat though. 3. Brighton (H) - A point would be decent. A win would be spectacular. Could be 0-0,could be 4-4,could be 0-3 could be 3-0. Win the two games above though and this is essentially a free hit. Can't help but feeling Liverpool will drop points against Leicester or Villa, hence my thinking above.
  3. Saw something on twitter which made a very good point. When he plays he makes the opposition full back unable to sit high up the pitch, as well as often causing defenders to double up on him which obviously creates space elsewhere for us. Even if he's not playing well he seems to cause more panic for the opposition than when Isak or Joelinton plays there.
  4. Just don't understand what happened from early in the season when we were doing loads of different variations on corners especially, catching teams out a lot of the time. It often involved Tripps and Miggy, but now we hardly try anything like that. Think we tried it once today but first time I've seen it for months.
  5. Absolute emotional roller coaster of a game. Head in hands when Bamford is standing to take the 2nd Pen. Jumping up and down when Maxi scores before the disappointment of seeing the offside call. Frothing at the mouth at the amount of needless fouls and poor free kicks we had. Not the worst result but obviously not the best. I felt it was either this game or Brighton that we would drop points so pressure ramped up now. Everton result against Brighton just goes you really can't predict anything, just need hope and belief that we can do it. Think Villa can get something at Anfield and if not, we can get a win at Chelsea. It's still on!
  6. Jesus that's torture! I did something similar on holiday years ago, watched a replay in a bar late at night against Liverpool, avoided the score all day, walked into the bar with my toon shirt on to be told "you weren't great today were you" Still watched it like a sicko though.
  7. Gerrard for me.. Tough choice though.
  8. Bring him home for ultimate shithousery.
  9. Ever since it became "7 points needed" it feels as though there's 72 hours in a single day and we play our games every 3 weeks apart.
  10. As good as Ashworth is nearly all their gems come from their stats driven player model, something which is all on their owner and definitely something that Ashworth would no longer have access too. He would have the contacts though so he's definitely capable of finding gems, just not as quick and easy as when he was at Brighton.
  11. Good, they'll have to go for it and try get the win which means we'll have more space to play through them. If they just played for a point and sat back with 10 men behind the ball it would be much harder to score.
  12. Fantastic result for us with West Ham winning. We have similar games to Man Utd, they have home advantage but we have a 2 point head start plus goal difference. Liverpool at best have 2 games to get more points than we can get in 4 games, again with similar games. We're still in a great position!
  13. We can definitely get 2 wins and a draw against Leeds, Brighton and Leicester. If not playing Chelsea away with Lampard as manager and the players on the beach having nothing to play for isn't the worst fixture in the World for us tbh. Today's result hasn't really changed anything tbh.
  14. Don't mind Arsenal at all, absolutely loved watching Henry when I was a kid. Just cannot stand Arteta, up there with Klopp for cuntishness.
  15. One thing I've noticed watching all these different teams in top 4 and relegation scenarios over the last week or two is just how electric our football is. Obviously we know it's been good after the dross that Bruce and gang have served up but when you watch other teams playing long balls out of play, taking shots that go out for throw ins, huge errors etc it really hits home just how good Howe has us set up, organised and efficient.
  16. We could secure Champions League football with a win/draw at home to Brighton, what an atmosphere that would be for a 19.30 kick off.
  17. Didn't Liverpool go on a 17 then 18 winning run in recent years or something ridiculous. I think we'll do it because of the position we're in ourselves but there's a very strong possibility of Liverpool winning every game they have left. Granted they're not as strong as they were but they have been in this situation many times before. I can't see Man Utd dropping enough points to slip out of the top 4, they're fixtures are just to kind to them. Brighton have had an excellent season but they have a tough run in, would be amazed if they don't drop points in 1 or 2 games at least. It's totally in our hands but if anyone is a threat I consider them to be Liverpool, however they've only really got 2 games to get more points than us in 5 games. If you take their games against Brentford and Villa, it's going to be one hell of an effort from them.
  18. Players make you a good manager is absolute bullshit and true PFM. So he basically does fuck all and moans that he hasn't got good enough players, then when given the top players just expects them to go out there and win because they're the best. What the fuck is the point of you then Big Sham?
  19. Man U have a piss easy run in, I really can't see them blowing top 4.
