As has been said, Eddie rarely throws new signing straight in, even with a decent amount of training, never mind a day or two at best. Its not exactly a position were desperate in either (like a striker), so doubt he'd be involved even if he does end up signing this week.

Definitely time for our offer to force their hand. If they really want him this summer, they have to use some Isak funds and outbid us. Sounds like Palace won't do a Leipzig and leave it to the player, if our offer is higher. Lets either push their bid up, or get him. I'm happy with either. Plus, I'm sure we can offer him the game time he wants ahead of next summer, even with our other centre halves.

Downie saying still work to do on this...

Talks started in the tunnel on Sunday, didn't they?

^ This. Charlie Austin was on Sky Sports News yesterday, talking about VVDs first failed move to Liverpool. VVD even put a transfer request in, but the clubs couldn't agree a fee. The Southampton players were told at the start of pre-season, that he had said he didn't want to play for them again, so would be training alone/away from the first team. Southampton players were pretty pissed off at his stance. Window closed with no deal done, and VVD is re-integrated back into the squad. Austin said the feelings changed for the team as they recognised he was a good player, and were glad to still have him. Of course the move happened later, but shows that even with a transfer request and refusal to play again, it doesn't always have to go the way the player wants, and there can be a route back.

Haha, WTF??!!! This is on the BBC Papers/Transfer round up, and comes from Caught Offside, but if there's even a smidge of truth in this, shows how petty the scouse c*nts are.

Maybe unlikely, but I'd still like us to make a late move for Guehi, if the fee doesn't get stupid again like last summer, even with the one year left Not sure which footed Guehi is, so this mightn't work, but just thought with Schar and Burn potentially in the last year(s) with us, having Botman, Thiaw and Guehi as first choice centre backs future proofs those positions for a few years, and could allow Botman to be rested to not aggravate his injuries. As I say, not fully up on each players preferred position, so might be too right footed if Botmans out, and such like. Also think moving for Guehi this summer could force Liverpools hand to either go for him now and use more funds that they might have been holding back for and Isak offer, or let him go and hold those funds. Think if we could do a deal for £45-50m tops, I'd go for it.

They won't care as long as he tries to kick lumps out of our players in the two derby matches, Marra. #FTM I doubt it'll happen, but would be great if Burnley and Leeds managed to stay up, and these went straight back down. But maybe their owners are counting on it... marrashewt payments and all that.

Jesus wept, how is that not a pen??? Oh, just remembered the team.

My bad, didn't know he was Spanish international.

Only thing with him and Wissa, if we got them both, is the AFCON, in December. But, I think we'll keep Isak to come in and cover for them while they are away. EDIT: Sorry, didn't realise Samu's Spanish nationality. We'll just keep Isak to cover for Wissa, then.

I have a feeling him and Pope will rotate more than usual for keepers, and they'll both get a decent amount of games. If Ramsdale does ok, I think we'll sign him permanent and Pope will leave next summer with a new younger keeper coming in under Ramsdale.
