It's very obvious Eddie has got us on the right track. With so many bad players still getting games and such a weak bench, results like today will happen. Convinced he is the right man to lead us to great things next year.

Everton vs Newcastle: 17/03/2022 @ 19:45 (Amazon Prime)

Same. They mentioned a win at Burnley last season during comms for the game earlier and I have no recollection of us even going to Turf Moor last year. Used to annoy me when people went on about Man U's record breaking away record when most of the games were behind closed doors. -
Can't call it. Norwich definitely and Watford probably. Brentford looked in huge trouble a couple of weeks ago but now look fine. I'd still probably say Leeds are way more likely to go down than Everton but honestly my opinions are changing every week right now. As for us, I expect a few dropped points with our run in, but only a total collapse (even worse form than the first 10 games of the season) will see us in any trouble.

I agree with everyone who says an early goal (or even just a good start from us) will make life very tricky for the Everton players. A win here and it's job done for us, if we lose we should be OK, but given our tough run in I might get a little nervous. -
Brentford vs. Newcastle United: 26/02/2022 @ 3pm (No UK TV)

Don't like to overhype one game in February, but I do feel this is super huge in deciding what will happen to both teams. Good results on Wednesday and a win for us on Saturday and we'd be getting to a point where only a total collapse in form will see us go down. -
There's 2 things that scare me about Burnley. First is the way they turned things around last season after looking as hopeless as they have been this year. Second, they are still the same old solid, defensively strong Burnley and even the best teams struggle to beat them. If they can improve their goalscoring even a little bit then they will climb the table. I just hope the win against Brighton was just a freak result against a makeshift defence rather than a sign of things to come. TBH it's a really interesting relegation battle all of a sudden and I think you can make a case for anyone staying up (except Norwich I reckon). Thank God we have this 4 point cushion and a bit of momentum.

I love Rafa but no. If our form is still rancid in a couple of months and we decide to get a new manager as a last throw of the dice - then maybe.
-
It's really hard to pick a number. We are terrible and don't look like winning enough games, but you could say the same for Norwich, Burnley and Watford. Honestly couldn't predict who'll stay up out of us 4. I think you could probably finish 17th with points in the low 30s or maybe high 20s, a few good signings could change everything.
-
Really? That makes me feel a bit better. I don't expect Leeds will go down (although it's not unthinkable), but as long as at least 1 team outside the bottom 3 are within touching distance on January 1st, it makes the transfer window a lot easier imo.
-
We can definitely cause them problems but I expect us to gift them way too many chances. Best we can realistically hope for is that teams around us drop points and we go into Norwich/Burnley in the same situation we are now.
-
9 for me. I think it's likely we'll be 10+ points adrift of safety unless Howe pulls off some miracles in December. Who will want to join in January if we're cut adrift? I expect us to improve but basically we have no room for error and we must beat Norwich and Burnley in the next couple of weeks.

Firmino is so bad. If they bring Haaland in it's game over for everyone else next year.

1. Euros will happen one way or another 2. Southgate is rubbish
-
If he's been decent lately then it's only decent by his own standards. He's shown flashes of competence - no more. I'm struggling to think of a worse player who regularly gets a start, Boumsong maybe?

Sheffield United vs Newcastle United - 12/1/21 - 6pm (Live on Sky)
ilikenewcastle replied to Stifler's topic in Football
Either a big win for us like at Bournemouth last year (a result Brucie will live off for months) or a 0-0 with 2 shots all game. -
Imagine boasting about our 2 recent cup runs.
-
I'd be buzzing with that if I was a Villa fan. Actually find myself warming to villa recently (mainly because your fans are some of the few people who realise how bad Bruce is!)
-
Things will be a lot different in June, the Euros will go ahead even if it's without fans in 1 country. Really should have cancelled all leagues last season and reduced the number of European games this season.
-
Great to watch, but surely Leeds fans must get annoyed they can't adjust the way they play in games like this? The praise they were getting from Sky was mental as well. They let in 6 and Neville basically says the way they were set up was perfect for Man Utd - and yet you'd think they'd got a decent result or were at least high up the table.
-
We'll pick up just enough to stay above the relegation zone, well away from Europe and enough to ensure morons can bang on about what a great job Bruce has done. We'll beat one of the good sides as well so Bruce can live off that for a year. Basically the next 5 seasons will be the same.
-
If we were a real club, he'd be a goner if/when we mess up the Fulham and Brentford games.
-
Lee Johnson will make a decent start, probably have a long unbeaten run (including loads of 1-1s) and they'll just miss out on promotion after a dodgy run in. He'll get sacked in 12 months time with Sunderland outside the play offs. The same thing will happen to the next 5 mackem managers.
-
Shola's is much weirder. I think the Shola thing was very tongue in cheek and surely nobody still goes along with it? Barton is loved for having a go at mackems on twitter. Apart from a few good games under Hughton and the penalties in the 4-4, he was at best a waste of space and not worthy of any sort of respect from fans. imo.
