  1. It's all gathering pace... can feel the tension building to a last minute cum shot/transfer bath!!
  2. Apols for re-hash of an old (ish) story, but does anyone believe we bid £35m for Das Bost in July? 3 in 3 league games this season; 34 in 31 last season. Just saying...
  3. If a loan rather than a buy, then likelihood of starting is likely to be a factor. Would the shirt be his to lose there? Suspect it would be here.
  4. Definite maybe. To my mind there would be no possibility of Gayle going anywhere unless we had a clear starter lined up. Not that he definitely will, but I would be surprised if we don't have an expensive (for us) alternative on the shopping list.
  5. Sell Gayle in the next 24 hrs then stick in a bid for a good player which will be rejected. Time runs out, we hold our hands up in frustration and curse our luck. How does that sound? If Gayle's offski, it will be a means to an end. Rafa will have his dominos aligned.
  6. Rafa knows shit and will get it right more often than not. The 'it' being right kind of competences in the right kind of person. If he's given the chance..
  7. Nice info I wonder how this compares to the norm for the PL and more importantly to us?
  8. Given and Dublin springs to mind
  9. Bilic spoiled my 100% record in the sack race. Hung on by skin of his teeth last season.
  10. Origi sounds plausible if Gayle or Mitro is leaving. https://thisisfutbol.com/2017/08/transfers/newcastle-in-running-for-striker-origi/ Some blurb from his original transfer to Liverpool: "What kind of striker is he? The main reason Brendan Rodgers is so interested in the Belgian is his versalility - one of Rodgers's most sought-after attributes. He is not an out-and-out target man in the mould of Rickie Lambert, but more similar to Daniel Sturridge with an ability to play across the front three or in a number of different formations. At Lille he has played up front and out wide, as a loan striker and as a more traditional No 10. At Lille last season, he started mostly on the left-hand side of a 4-3-3."
  11. Vidar Orn Kjartansson. Iceland (and Island-heed) Maccabi Tel Aviv forward. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/640632/Newcastle-Transfer-News-Vidar-Orn-Kjartansson-Rafa-Benitez-Premier-League-Gossip/amp
  12. Man City 2-1 Liverpool Arsenal 3-1 Bournemouth Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 West Bromwich Albion Everton 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur Leicester City 0-2 Chelsea Southampton 1-1 Watford Stoke City 1-2 Manchester United Burnley 2-0 Crystal Palace Swansea City 1-1 Newcastle United West Ham United 2-1 Huddersfield Town
  13. Apparently. Big bad Mike Ashley wants him out. Apparently. Everybody knows it. I must have been in the same place as you when the memo was as circulated.
  14. Don't think anyone has written Gayle off or suddenly seen Mitro as the better option. Just a bit of speculation that (a) we would need to sell a striker to bring a better option in; (b) we'd get more for Gayle, he might not be as effective in this formation in this league, plus it's all gone a bit weird/seems a bit wrong re him at the mo. Dwight to The Whites and Das Bost in on Thursday night
  15. Selling Dwight. Like Les Ferdinand or David Kelly?
  16. As ever, hard to know if much truth in any of it. Three more business days until end of window. We'll know where we stand then. For about 48hours
  17. There's no place like home -em. I could shoot and pass and run, beat Feyenoord for fun In sunshine or in rain With my head I'd be notchin' while the 'keeper stood a watching When I played without the pain
  18. Pretty sure that all of them--including several surrounding counties too--must have been eaten...
  19. That last comment has done my head in. I now have some sort of Julio-Geordio,Daisy Duke, No Way Jose, mash-up going on. Currently choosing to focus on this part if the trio:
  20. Personally couldn't care if he had a midriff like Peter Kay, if he could kick the ball a bit more accurately.
