  1. His aptitude for being wrong is pretty impressive, too. But for the right reasons.
  2. He seems intelligent, which implies he'll adapt well to Howe's methods. No denying if he went to Villa or Everton it would be a waste of money.
  3. Willock has played every game, he should be counties ahead of him.
  4. TBF my viewing was interrupted by prolific beavers and I missed the second half entirely. But he looked composed in the first half. Played some nice looking balls that were cut out by the defence, which left me questioning the runs. I'm not saying he's the next Bruno, but I'm going to give him the same leeway that ASM got.
  5. Aye. Think they've always been prepared to pay the premium for a statement signing, just not on every signing. Overpaying for Casemiro, for example, would not be a statement of intent, really.
  6. I don't think you can fairly assess what anybody is likely to contribute, from last nights game. They put 5 at the back and kicked shit out of us. We didn't get involved and on the game. Time to move on. That said, I won't be confident f we start that team against Palace, but the fact we're at home will add a little balance.

    Joe Willock

I'm not asking Almiron to do anything different to what he does now. He, Trippier and Bruno are a very effective triangle for attacking down the right wing. Just his starting position and defensive duties change. I'd also argue that Willock is not a midfielder.
  8. Fuck me you're simple sometimes. RW is not a role, it's a starting position. How the player plays the position is dependent upon what you ask of them. We don't lack penetration on the right wing, we lack bodies in the box to get on the end of that penetration. With a starting position of RW with the instruction to get into the box, he'll be essentially playing CF for 80% of the match.

I've offered 3 different shapes that we can utilise with that team and you accuse me of simplicity.
  10. Same bedwetters that claimed we were running out of time with 4 weeks to go, now claiming this transfer was done in the space of 3 days. Incredible. Disclaimer: I can't confirm they're the same people. I don't like it when others do that so I shouldn't do it myself.
  11. If he was anymore aggressive he would have been sent off for pulling down Haaland. I think with last night's game fresh in the mind, any demands for more aggression, should be tempered for now.
  12. Good news. It means that all those people who think we are running out of time, can dry their pants.
  13. He played 34 games as the right-sided CF, in a two, last season. Which is kind of the same role but with 50% more responsibility.
  14. He hasn't had much opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of fans, but when he has he's stood up and been counted. Was it Everton where he scored an own goal, then equalised a minute later. memories of that last night. Can't question the bloke's character, that's for sure. Also people can't forget what he said about Ashley, which is just childish.
  15. He had Murphy, Wood and Ritchie in front of him. 2/3 of that attacking line up is enough to excuse ASM being shite for 17 consecutive games. He'll be much better with better players around him.
  16. Got to be honest, he's another that I thought would be beyond us. Haven't seen him play but he's been spoken highly of for about 3 or4 years now. I was certain he was destined for somebody bigger than us. And the fee is certainly beyond what I expected us to be paying.
  17. 3 years left on contract. Been more important to us over the last 4 years than Lingard was for them. Double it.
  18. 3 days after travelling to Southampton isn't ideal.
  19. He's not making the most of the position he's being asked to play.
  20. A year ago that team would scare me, but such is the team spirit and belief, fostered by Howe's methods, I'm looking forward to this.
