Tom Carroll at left back is nearly playing him on, it's pretty tight tbh. Only cause Carroll didn't push out though. Gayle wasn't aware of that yet was still a good 4-5 yards offside from a corner. Not good enough. He wouldn't have got near the ball if he was 4-5 yards back though So standing offside is the solution...

Pleased to see Shelvey starting as well, need his quality in a game like this. Looking for a big game from him. -

Good side, right to start Diame over Merino in my opinion. Only change I would have liked to see is Joselu instead of Gayle who has been poor lately. We'll win this. -
Looking for a Junior Hoilett thunderbolt from range. He can hit them well given the time & space.

Reckon we'll win without too much hassle. We're better than them. -
An honest attempt from the lad, foot on the ball but momentum means he rolls over it, probably looks bad to the ref at a glance but really isn't a bad challenge. Oh well

Harsh red that imo.

Sunderland's goalkeeper is rough as fuck. Their backup is even worse as well.

This is exactly what will happen and we can all see it a mile off. So frustrating when we can't do anything about it. At this rate, we're going to get relegated and all the hard work done by Rafa/players in the Championship has been for nothing. That's not being dramatic, it's just very realistic. I wouldn't be so sure, at this current rate we would stay up given our points tally/form. Another couple of wins and we would all start feeling very confident of staying up. I don't think we're getting relegated this year personally, new signings or not. If we however start flogging key players like Shelvey, that's when I'd start to question our chances a bit more.

Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

That Charly Musonda looks good I reckon, fwiw. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out to a Southern club rather than us, Bournemouth/Brighton for instance. -
Ah yes, that was a lack of concentration for sure. Good shout.

They are by far is biggest weaknesses - he makes game changing mistakes that cost goals. These aren't due to his technique more often than not. Most notable for me was at Burton away last year in the small terrace and very close to the goal so I could see him up close and he was shaking like a leaf with nerves every time he took a goal kick. If he could cut them out I think he could become a decent Premier League 'keeper. Might have just been cold Any other examples? I'm interested in your perspective but still can't recall that many occasions where his concentration/focus has glaringly obviously let him down to be considered a huge problem. Ipswich away last season? Everton at home this season? Everton was more positioning than focus imo.
