Honestly I just think beyond set pieces that he's bang average. I don't get the hype like, never have.
-
Genuinely never understood the clamour for him at all beyond free kicks.
-
It's a common thing that happens and I wouldn't completely rule it out if it was after Rafa, but after Steve Bruce? Presumably they didn't check out how successful that 'defensive mentality' was
-
Ando just laughing with delight over Willock and Bruno's goals

Being realistic that's an ideal weekend of football
-
I dunno why but you telling us exactly where you'd get it from has me proper creased

Gumbaaaaay, fetch me the perlemiah league table Congratulations Edward, your latest offering was as delectable as dipping my bottom over and over into a bath of the silkiest oils and creams.

Feels about 3 years overdue.
-
Christ, are we actually going to be 3rd? This is insane
-
Dier really has no average does he? He's either in form or colossal shit. Spurs honestly look dreadful considering their position
-
It was the match that was poor rather than us I think.
-
Absolutely chuffed for him, very tidy finish.

Thoroughly deserves that goal for his performances. MOTM for me as well. The thing I was impressed with in this one was how often he'd get in front of whoever was breaking for them, shrug them off and then play it simple. Had some moments of real class as well.

Scrappy, but forceful and clinical. Pope: 7 Trippier: 8 Schar: 7 Botman: 6.5 Burn: 6.5 Longstaff: 8 Bruno: 7.5 Willock: 9 Almiron: 8 Wilson: 6 / Wood: 7.5 Murphy: 7 / ASM: 8

The goal probably summed up the half. Scrappy but we just about edged it.

Interested to see what Salisu's like this season. Thought he looked excellent last season. -
Yeah that's great. The Jackie Milburn one's class, as is the MLK statue at Newcastle Uni, so the right people are out there. Our SBR and Shearer ones could be worse, but they're not great like.

Brentford defenders playing for offside like it's 2015

I take all of the points you're making, I just see it on the other side of the coin, that Qatar has essentially being rewarded before having made any progress, then haven't made any significant progress in the meantime. Think of all the previous examples of the same sort of thing happening - Berlin 1936, China 2008, Russia 2018, they changed and stopped nothing. Even looking in our own back yard, did the 2012 Olympics change anything in our own national psyche? Considering everything that followed I think it's hard to argue that it did. FWIW I think in a non-corrupt FIFA, carrot and stick would be the best way. ie countries are told that until they do achievable X, Y, and Z they won't get a World Cup, then the ones that do are shown to be rewarded. Completely unrealistic and naive like, especially now that Qatar has been frowned upon but accepted, including by the precious advertisers.

Liberal idols ffs. I couldn't be any more anti-liberal if I tried, you fucking ignorant dipshit I don't count 'participating with the world' as 'progress' when nothing significant has changed - you know? The things that would warrant the use of the word progress. Qatar was given a World Cup then proceeded to work labourers to death. That's not 'progress', that's vindication for not progressing. The idea that you think you can lecture anyone on critical analysis is priceless, you consistently have the most brain dead, ill-informed takes on here that don't even pass the most basic scrutiny. You're a joke
-
They died in vain regardless. The whole idea is presumably, give world cups to countries with human rights records like that and we won't watch it and you'll lose money. Can't imagine it'll happen to any meaningful level though.

He's been no less dodgy than Pope usually is. It's the price you pay for being a sweeper keeper.
