  1. How long before they mention us? And wonder how long they’ll spend on us? (Feck… think I’m getting paranoid).
  2. Gameweek 4 Luton 1-2 West Ham Sheff United 0-0 Everton Brentford 2-1 Bournemouth Burnley 1-2 Spurs Chelsea 2-1 Forest Man City 3-1 Fulham Brighton 2-3 Newcastle Palace 1-1 Wolves Liverpool 2-1 Villa Arsenal 3-2 Man United
  3. His home town team; and all the outlaws’ influence . Newcastle are supposed to be his ‘second team’ (took him to SJP a few times when he was little) though you wouldn’t know it; unless we’re playing Man Utd.
  4. Well, the league cup circa 2014, is the only time I’ve seen us beat you (in your new guise…) much to the distress of my City supporting son (who was with me aged about 5). So I’m going for same result again. 2-0 (no, not to the away team this time!)
  5. Sometimes subs work sometimes they don’t. Barnes finds Wilson in the box instead of being caught in two minds and it is a different story. He’ll have learned from this, but doesn’t mean he won’t do the same again.
  6. Another left footed right winger/forward?
  7. I was in Newcastle (couldn’t get a ticket, again) but decided to watch the match in town. I was doubly gutted. But I’m over it now, personally. Fair play to them. Two great finishes and they managed the game very well. Another day it could have been a juicy memorable 3-0 to us. That’s football folks. That said I’d be desperate to beat them at Anfield! (nice thing is, we just might…).
  8. Looked like he was mainly just trying to stop someone being hurt. Until some cowardly scum punched him in the back of the head and he appeared to identify him and go and swing for him slightly off camera.
  9. I’m still assuming are aiming for a top six season and have used a way of gauging when we will, on average, pick-up the 61 points likely to be required (average for PL). Categorising the teams (mainly on last season’s position) into four tiers and predicting we will pick-up (rounded-up) 9pts from T1 (all tiers ten games except 8 in Tier 1), 16 pts from Tier 2, 18pts from T3, and 19pts from T4 teams. Taking into account the ‘tier’ of the team we play, and whether home or away, and breaking down into the different months the points should be picked-up like shown in the chart below (will be clearer once we’re a few months in). Basically, we should have had 4 points end of August, 11 points end of September, and 16 points by end of October, 21 end of November etc. (I need to check & adjust if games have been moved to a different month).
  10. I’d like to see the freekicks shared a bit more. Would love to see Tonali bang one in.
  11. Salah is a class act. Some great passes and fantastic movement throughout. Anybody would have difficulty keeping him in check.
  12. Errrr, hope you had a nice bank holiday in the end! I was actually in Chester-le-Street and Durham City. The old place still looking good.
  13. He seemed quite isolated at times yesterday. Couple of times he received the ball and there was nobody in black and white within 20 yards. Not a problem in itself, but risky when teams have targeted him for quick closing down. I like the fluidity Tonali’s roaming play brings, but I think they’re still learning to balance each other.
  14. 1 down. 9 to go. His performance was a real positive today.
  15. I like this approach! My first positive thought about the match. Every team, even the great ones (not saying we are), lose games they should have won. We didn’t quite click, but still did enough to win; especially with the odds stacked in our favour. Well done to Liverpool who dug in, stuck together, and have top quality throughout the squad. Two great finishes make the difference not unlike last season’s defeat to them here. Maybe it’ll be a different story at Anfield, it’ll be on us to make it so.
