Someone with beliefs like that isn’t a person I want representing our team. I get there’s a religious element he’s getting at, but you just don’t make a statement like that as it’s irrelevant to the campaign and not about a ‘belief’ - it’s a human right to live the way you want to and not have fear for your sexuality
  2. Villa on this winless run just shows how tough it is for teams like us playing in the champions league. We really have no excuse this season to be higher in the table, but I’m not worried just yet. A couple of results going our way when we deserved them too and we’d be sitting joint 2nd right now. It’s more disappointing that we haven’t been consistent enough as that would have separated us from the bunch. We will know where we stand come January with some tricky fixtures coming thick and fast. It’s just a shame that we have Liverpool next given that we can never beat them
  3. As much as I love the guy, you always got the sense that he was going to end up being a transitional manager. The guy that brings stability, changes our fortunes and gets us in the top half of the league. I think the owners would love him to be the man that brings success, but I can’t see him staying long term with how we’ve been playing more recently and our inability to evolve as a team
  4. I’d be tempted to start Tonali ahead of Bruno for this one. Bruno played practically two full 90 minute games and we should give him some more recovery time
  5. Every game at their place they make some ridiculously rough challenges that go unpunished and I can’t ever understand it. This Yates guy could have been sent off on 5 separate occasions

    Lewis Hall

Loved it when there was a break for Forest (think it was in the first half) and he just kept pace with Elanga, did a little swivel to get possession of the ball and then looked forward for a pass - so much talent
  7. I stand by my statement from last season that I think he can be the best right back in the world. He has everything in his locker to get there, but it’s defensively where he really showcases his talent. Today he showed us his pace, determination, strength, positioning and also showed some cunning professionalism. Obviously he needs to improve in many areas, but the core attributes of his game are there to build on - keep it going lad!
  8. There’s some potential there for sure. He needs to find some composure as he gets more minutes. At the moment everything he does is at 100 mph
  9. Hence the deflation of things and my malaise at the pace of growth. A stadium will take at a minimum 2 years and then the upside in revenue will obviously exceed that. Eddie and the team will still get my full support no matter what and hopefully we can get some more positivity across the fan base to lift us to a decent end of year finish
  10. I’m also feeling slightly deflated right now as well. I was watching the game on Sunday wondering if we’d ever get to the stage where we can go into a game like that and think seriously that we will match them, compete consistently and not just roll over. I always have the same kind of feeling whenever we go to the ‘big’ away games. I just don’t see how we can take the next step without being able to invest to get more quality into the squad. Maybe we just need to take a tactical points deduction one season which we fight on appeal I dunno
  11. Same for me. I’d even be tempted to keep Bruno on the bench and allow Tonali to do the role. Could go for a midfield three of Longstaff - Tonali - Willock
  12. I’d really like to see that switch up
  13. I love Eddie, but I’ve always held the opinion that he’s not the manager to take us to elite level as much as I want this to happen. Obviously it’s a lot to do with the players you have to pick, but we never seem to play a tactical setup in these so called big away games that gives us a chance. You knew before started that there would be gaps behind the midfield 3 and it just wasn’t addressed. There’s no way somebody like Emery sets a team up like that
  14. We need a goal soon with all this dominance - then we can coast to an easy win
  15. Agreed. But when Trippier is on the field, he shouldn’t take the penalties. I’d actually rather have Joelinton and Bruno ahead of him
  16. He’s a CB to me and I thought he looked more comfortable in that role. I think that’s where he should be played from now on unless there’s injuries

    Joelinton

Exactly. And if Bruno had Joelinton’s height and running power, then he’d be the best midfielder in the world. It’s all about picking players that complement each other, make up for individual deficiencies and work as a team.
  18. Thought that was a fair result all in all. Really happy with the effort and some of the football today
  19. I think I’d take a few demotions right now for us if it meant in 15 years time we’d have 8 league titles and a Champions League to our name

    Marc Guehi

That’s what I have been saying myself. Even just look at his defending on the weekend for the Leicester goal. He’s got some attributes that we would like in the side and is still young so can develop with us. But he’s nowhere worth the money they talked about in the summer. I’m pretty sure we didn’t get close to £65m too as we know it’s not good value. A fee around the Botman price to me is fair, but having a decent couple games for England means you’re now a ‘superstar’ it seems

    Harvey Barnes

Seems to have a few goals against Fulham from that video, so he has to start for me
  22. I really think that as long as a team finishes within 10 points from Man City this season - as they will be winning it again - they will get the title from the points deduction. I’m sure Man City would take that alongside a heavy fine and transfer ban

    Joelinton

It’s strange to me that he gets called out again for a 45 minutes where he was the best of the 3 midfielders out there… It was right to take him off, but it’s mad how everyone ignores the good tackles, the tracking back, the forward runs and the positivity to try and progress the ball.
