How many times did we feel this way with Pardew.

String of bad results-->Like, surly he will be sacked now-->some days after the match with speculation-->Nothing happens.

Repeat ad infinitum until Crystal Palace.

Tbf, no matter how eye gougingly bad we were under Pardew, he never had us in this much trouble and you knew he'd have a win or two on the spin at some point. This is a whole other kettle of fish, who can tell where (if) the next win will come? With Carver it was a terrible judgement call and we were only 1 win from safety for half a fucking season, it's just that win came right at the death, by which time it was too late to replace the punched lasagne faced cunt anyway. You'd have hoped they'd have learnt from that but the only thing they probably took from that is if Carver can get a win at the death and save us then surely McClaren can and it'll all be good. Fucking imbaciles.

Oh, i agree.

But judging from the fan forum the club think we are in no trouble.

If they keep him, they are sending out a message to everyone that they are happy to be relegated so I would be surprised if we picked up many more points this season.  It will give huge encouragement to Sunderland and Norwich.

I wonder how Ashley has become so rich, while tolerating continued gross incompetence in his businesses.

I think he takes Sports Direct far more seriously as a business. Newcastle is more of an advertising tool which he'd rather leave to other people to run. Football's not like other businesses though, you do need to involve competent people who understand the game, not accountants or casino managers.

The only glimmer of hope is that in the past they've been quick to put out statements.  We could easily be saying nothing while looking for a replacement, no other reason would make sense.  My guess is he'll only stay if they can't bring in who they want.

 Tend to agree with this.

They've been very quick (to the point of aggressive) to deny any rumours of discontent previously.

From the BBC:

'Steve McClaren has spent £85m at Newcastle so far with a win rate of 21% - narrowly better than short-term bosses John Carver and Joe Kinnear.'

EDIT: Steve Kean had a 22% win percentage at Blackburn.

He hasn't really though, has he?

Gini, Mitro, Mbemba etc were all clearly lined up for whoever they appointed.

I'd say Townsend and Shelvey were his signings.

His advertising exposure in the Championship will be restricted - this is why I think he'll act.

Underground escape tunnel?

They can just drive directly into the ground so will not necessarily be seen.  However, chances are a board meeting will be held away from SJP if Ashley is attending.

Well no, but it is money that has been spent on the squad during his tenure.

They are all shitting themselves hoping Ashley has the answer.

Paralysed by fear.

3 has-beens or never-were's who would be nowhere near any other PL club. They'll be thinking of their own wage packet rather than anything positive about the club.

I don't want to spread panic but I've been told this morning that someone in a key position at SJP doesn't want to sack Steve McClaren #nufc

I wonder who the could be...

Steve McClaren?

Of all the things to aim at him, transfer spend is probably a bit unfair given he asked for a commanding CH and a forward and got neither.

It's crazy how we sacked Hughton so quickly and for nothing but have let Pardew and McClaren get away with such sustained inept performances.

That was probably very little to do with football though. They wanted a yes man who wouldn't resist selling our best players.
