He added: “I am experienced. We know what’s right and what’s wrong. We know there is work to do and what not to do. Generally we have been successful when players have that ambition. “We suffer when players don’t want to reach those standards and don’t want to put the work in to reach that. We always set standards and have a culture and environment which we know can produce success. It's the managers job to motivate them, although this goes back to Pardew, Carver, and ultimately Ashley, for creating this culture at the club. We need someone with a much bigger personality. mighty__mag
Don't think I could bare us winning this, then a hiding off Leicester, then going into the Derby with him in charge of a 6 pointer. Then he possibly gets the boot with Simpson left with barely enough games to work a miracle and then we go down and that lot stay up. It should just be lose at the weekend and you're gone. But please God let there be a replacement lined up.
mrmojorisin75
I still think that our squad is better than at least 6 other teams in the division, its the managers fault end of Bang on. This applied to Pardew, it applied to Carver, and it applies to this cunt. Hate hearing that it's the players when we've spent 5 years now with utter shit for management. Football is littered with examples of clubs that completely change overnight when they get rid of dead weight managers dragging the players down. Football is not littered with examples of clubs that replace swathes of players while keeping a poor manager and then getting better on the pitch. Wallace
Aye, whilst players aren't exempt from criticism...it's the manager's sole job to motivate the players. Both tactical motivation and mental motivation. If he can't do that then what's the point in having a manger. Agree and I can't see how comments like that will help in motivating the players. Dave
Definitely Craig Hope. Used to work at NUFC and has been very critical in the Mail recently. Good on him for confronting it, Lee Ryder would never dare 'Which one of you is Hope?' 'Well it's not fucking you, Steve'.

mozy
The team for most of the season has included the worst CB and CM pairing in the league, taking into account inexperience, age, and generally being fucking crap. McClaren has made absolutely no improvement to any of the turd he inherited, but let's not act like those players he inherited are any good.

mozy
Badly worded, obviously we have a handful of talented players but the dross (Gouffran, Colo, Anita, Colback, Obertan, Cisse, etc) has been dross since before SMC got here, he just hasn't been able to improve any of the players. Howay man ffs. Smh, no one said they were world beaters but 2nd worst set of players in the league? Do you think Leicester have the best players in the league? No they aren't blameless but there's teams that prove a decent manager can make a team much more than the sum of its parts and shite managers make them less than that same sum, us being case and point, we are better than 19th man for man, McClaren has no excuse for having us there other than his own ineptitude ffs. Edit: having read your post above, you're right, we do have a lot of dross in our ranks but no one forces him to play them.

Exactly. I remember sitting with a lad during the Pardew death match where he'd blame the players every week. He saw the light right near the end. Players at lots of struggling clubs improve instantly when they get rid of shit managers, and we've had shit managers for a very long time now. mozy
The problems we have now are down to years of boardroom mismanagement, and that includes listening to Alan Cuntfeatures to sell our best players. To hold McClaren wholly responsible would be like blaming Villa's current predicament on Sherwood and Garde, when they are only the tip of the iceberg. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Genuinely don't think our squad is that good, tbh. There's a few decent players in there, surrounded by a large amount of shite.

To hold McClaren wholly responsible would be like blaming Villa's current predicament on Sherwood and Garde, when they are only the tip of the iceberg. For certain the current malaise we find ourselves in is through years of neglect from the top down, replacing shit manager with shit manager, Hughton excused, but massive strides could be taken into rebuilding a team to be proud of by getting the right man in the Managers position. No McClaren isn't the sole man to blame, but he's not the answer either, it's just a continuation of the same shit.
Kanj
Every journo should be having a go at McClaren, asking him to explain himself and should all find themselves banned by the club - that'll send another message. We're 2nd bottom and these fucking cunts within the club are all Iraqi Military Commander "all is okay" about this shit. It's not okay, we're going to get relegated as things currently stand unless we outdo 2 clubs who are tied with us. We win or draw the same amount as them we go down. FFS. huss9
the bloody media man. why has no one asked the cunt why gouffran and riviere were preferred to perez, or why we went to stoke to grind out a draw when we should have gone for 3 points. no point asking if he thinks he's gonna be sacked, or letting him behind his perceived bad luck or injuries. - he needs to be called out and pulled apart over his decision making. Kanj
Yep - need to be calling him out on his stupid selection and tactics and inability to sign a defense (he's on the board so he should fucking bloody answer that) or why has he got Saivet sitting bench for Colback who has been part of the team that's been blowing chunks all season.
