High Five o
As much as i want Rafa in, i can not see it happening. He would steamroll the whole senior managment team in a week and get hounded out of the city by Ashley riding on Charnley back, naked. Or he'd keep us up and show Ashley what a proper manager could accomplish. It's the hope that kills. Indeed, my hope for this club is long gone, thank god. steve_69
They should offer him or Mourinho a contract until the end of the season with a £10m bonus if they keep us up.

TRon
Having someone in charge that will concede absolutely everything to them is their modus operandi, though. If they change managers they have to go through the whole process of 'vetting' people again, which involves finding out who's got self respect and who hasn't. It's not like a club with ambition where you just offer the best candidate the job and shake hands. But it blatantly hasn't worked for the last few years, if we don't know how to appoint a proper footballing MD, then the next best thing would probably be to hire a highly rated manager and let him do the job. At some point even Ashley must surely realise this? It has worked perfectly for the last few years, just not this time. We've been flirting with relegation 3 out of the last 4 years. All the evidence would suggest that far from working, it's been papering over the cracks at best and in reality heading for inevitable disaster. Even someone as pig headed as Ashley must be realising it by this point. Mid table safety is no longer guaranteed with half hearted investment, not in a league where even the small clubs are cash rich and spend big money on players and management structure. hoppaz
if Rafa wants the job and we don’t appoint him then they all want set on fire! They deserve that anyway! A good article to read on Rafa's experience at Chelsea when he took over mid-season (note there is a betting site pop up when you click on it)... http://www.chelseadaft.org/2013/01/a-closer-look-at-rafa-benitez-chelsea.html He's a great manager though overall and proably the best that is available but would he be able to turn us round. Decky
A manager of Rafa's calibre would get the players performing to a higher standard straight away which would get us the results we need to stay up. We really do have such a pathetic bunch of players like.
TRon
They should offer him or Mourinho a contract until the end of the season with a £10m bonus if they keep us up. It sounds ludicrous to even mention Mourinho in connection with us, but on a short term deal with a big payoff, who's to say he wouldn't consider it? Keep Newcastle up at a big profile club and he's instant hero again. Yeah, he would probably still turn us down, but I'll bet he would be tempted. He's dying to get back in the English game to prove a point.

Guest reefatoon
I'm taking it as good news, as the little f***ing coward hasn't got the balls to sack anyone face to face. He has cancelled the meeting and will then whatsapp him that he is sacked.
