All of you are crazy, you just can't appreciate talent. Smith puts in 100% commitment and has just been unlucky. Give him another year and he has the potential to be a regular goal scorer. he can shoot with both feet, shoot long range and is even bang on with headers.

I agree with alpal here. He will become a good player again if given the opportunity. A true 15-goal a season pitbull in the making. Him and Yakubu up front would destroy the PL.

When was he ever "Good" he had one decent season at a team that was relegated he is Awful, each team in the league can only afford one Shola we have 2

Alan Smith to swap Newcastle for Everton

Everton Manager David Moyes is poised to offer Newcastle United £3 million for striker Alan Smith – a move that would save Newcastle around £12 million in wages.

Smith joined Newcastle from Manchester United for £6 million though owner Mike Ashley would be prepared to take half that to lighten the wage bill in preparation for bringing in new signings to the club.

A deal has been struck for Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabrizio Coloccini at a cost of around £8.5 million, with half that amount to be paid up front and the balance paid off in a year's time.

Smith's wholehearted approach to his game has always been well received by Newcastle's supporters but they, like manager Kevin Keegan and Ashley, have begun to grow frustrated with the former England striker's lack of goals.

The 27-year-old has failed to find the net on each of his last 37 outings for the club and a poor pre-season has left Keegan resigned to offloading the player.

Smith commands wages of £60,000-a-week - a figure that may prove a stumbling block on the proposed move unless he is willing to drop down to a level more manageable at Goodison Park.

Should Smith leave St James' Park, Newcastle's small squad would be further exposed.

Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins are both struggling with fitness and Keegan has been on record as saying he needs to strengthen in defence and central midfield, as well as adding to his attacking options.

Concern over the size of the squad was voiced by Cameroon international Geremi.

"We don't have enough players now," he said. "That's the problem."

Has it fuck, we can't stand the guy's constant running about like a headless chicken and never ending string of yellow cards.

i'll be terrified for when he comes up here to play against us. True class always shines through.

He absolutely has to go. However, I think he will fit in better at Everton and actually do well for them. The rest of their team is so solid that they can afford to have him in there running around and cauing a bit of havoc for the opposition, albeit in a headless chicken sort of fashion. He can do all the hard running which Yakubu doesn't really do enough of. He'll probably even score some goals as he won't really be under pressure to do so there, with Yak, Arteta and Cahill.

Moyes would love him for the player he is i.e. the supposed 100% commitment, hard man act as moyes is just that sort of manager. On the other hand Keegan, who loves the beautiful game, just doesn't quite have enough to work with when it comes to Smith.

I think it's a good deal for both clubs tbh.
