Unbelievable.

Will be so glad when his contract expires in the summer :(

He signed a new 3 year deal

I was being sarcastic!

find it absolutely incredible that a fair portion of this board was happy to have him in the team a few months back, he's proved so consistently over the course of his career that he is nowhere near a premiership player, never in a million years

I also find it incredible, that despite his performances and lack of match fitness, our current management team believe he is the best option up front!

This, It's f*cking sickening tbh

If anything we should have made him earn his contract if he performed well to the season end - and even then it should have been a 1 year contract. That way he's playing for his future. In those first few games under Kinnear he was decent, then we offer him a 3-year contract. That way we won't see any effort until 2 and a half years down the line, when he realises he needs another one. By that point, John Sitton or Dave Bassett or whoever's picking the team can offer him another one after a few more passable, lukewarm shifts.

He just ambles up and down the pitch, he knows there's some sort of divine intervention keeping him at the club.

Please, Roeder, find a new club, hurry the fuck up, and buy him.

Ben Foster became the latest victim of Shola Ameobi syndrome, when he was described as a promising youngster by a commentator the other day. He's knocking on 27 now.

He's a keeper though. And he's 25, hardly knocking on 27

Though Ameobi looked a lot better vs Bolton tbh, hopefully he'll be back to full form next game.

Where's that idiot bob yule, ameobi's number one fan? Or did he actually watch him play for the first time and see what a tit he is?

I'm no Shola fan but the booing when he came on yesterday was a disgrace.

Correct, he gets booed for the team being 3-1 down  Oba gets his name chanted for an awful penalty. They all need encouragement.

You have to wonder why a player who is unpopular with a huge number of his own clubs fans would want to sign a new contract with the club. I can only assume it's because he thought no other club would offer him as good a deal (he was probably right).

I imagine Ameobi may well be leading the line for us next season. I'm looking forward to those stories about how he is going to fire us to promotion.

Obviously money would have been a factor but the reason he signed a new contract is because he is being given the chance to play for the club he loves. He also has an inflated sense of his own ability. Neither are really his fault and its not him who should get the stick for it.

I don't know how Shola ever made it into the professional game, but some of our fans were a disgrace when booing him onto the pitch yesterday. If people think he's not making an effort when he's playing then i can understand him getting some stick, but to boo him before he's involved in the game is not on.
