PRL
Just read this, quite scary parallels, just with one English and the other French, not sure i'd be pleased if it was he we were signing... http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_3882662,00.html

Baggio
I've heard a rumour that we're signing him instead of Coloccini as part of Ashley's cost cutting exercise.
Threelegs
Assuming we're actually signing him, that means we've replaced Ramage, Carr, Rozehnal & Emre for (as of now) Guthrie, Gutierrez & Bassong, with a few more potentially coming in. I reckon that's alright so far. Of the 4 leaving, neither really played much or reached their potential. Your right. On a man-to-man match up basis we are improving definetely, and got rid of some of the deadwood at the same time. Fingers crossed these new signings perform though. I dont want to get my hopes up though. I cant think of a signing recently who has been great for us from the start (or even at all). Hopefully the new signings can get off to a good start, which always reduces pressure and gets the fans on side.

Under 21 internationals, 70 games in their respective top flights, played for relegation fodder the season previous... Don't get me wrong, not saying they're similar players, just the stats... Just saying i'll take Bassong over Cattermole any day!
Dave
The likes of Carr and Emre were wasters, probably on huge money. I'd much rather have hungry youngsters with potential here, even if it's cheaper (for some reason that's deemed a bad thing).

Baggio
http://www.bonaberi.com/ar,sebastien_bassong_a_newcastle,4767.html Two weeks ago, we relayed that Sebastien Bassong would be with the test in Newcastle from July 20 for a éventel contract. It would seem that the Cameronian defender of the FC Metz - relegated Leagues 2 of them - made good impression with Sir Kevin Keagan, since according to Eurosport, he will pass the medical visit today, simple formality before the signature. Last Saturday, Bassong disputed a friendly match where he convinced the trainer of Magpies, and should thus logically engage and join Geremi Ndjitap. For the moment, the amount of the transfer and the wages of the player are not known. I don't see anything on Eurosport Could be bollocks then, I dunno. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://m.eurosport.fr/football/bassong-vers-newcastle_sto1650029/m-story.shtml&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=5&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dbassong%2Bnewcastle%2Bmedical%26hl%3Den%26lr%3Dlang_fr%26safe%3Doff%26rlz%3D1T4GZAZ_en-GBGB253GB253%26as_qdr%3Dall

afar
Way better than bringing in the likes of Chimbonda, to back up the full back position. We need another kid for the other side, Colocini to sign on the dotted line and as far as I'm concerned we are done with the defence. I hope to god though they don't think that midfield and up top needs no further work. Got a horrible feeling they do though.
KaKa
everyone pretty happy with this signing, as a squad player? I am, looked ok against Doncaster but it's difficult to tell but I trust KK's judgement. Yup, at the end of the day Keegan has worked with him for a week and seen him in a full game, so I am very comfortable with the decision. Also seems to be a very athletic and versatile defender, which is very useful. We do lack a younger defender who is strong and athletic at the club, so it's a solid move.
