AyeDubbleYoo
Seems like they're getting to know the real James Milner, didn't take them long to be fair.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
To be fair to Milner, it was his cross that lead to that shocking miss by Gabby. The sale of Milner for 12M makes me feel a little bit better about the acquisition of Smith for 7M. You had to go and spoil it by mentioning the money spent on Smith. Adam
If he was still here, Jonas would start ahead of him, and Duff has sorted his act out, and would start ahead of him atm. 12 Mill thank you very much.

Dave
Whose place did he take for Villa by the way? petrov ? Aye, though Reo-Coker has been playing on the wing.
Baggio
Villa played a 4-3-3 type game last season with Young and Agbonlahor either side of Carew, not sure if the formation change was to accommodate Milner or if it was planned all along. I was under the same impression, but Brummie told me it's not the case and never has been. Still, not sure where a player like Milner fits in as part of a pacey, direct side like Villa. Taylor Swift
Villa played a 4-3-3 type game last season with Young and Agbonlahor either side of Carew, not sure if the formation change was to accommodate Milner or if it was planned all along. It was planned to accommodate a right-sided midfielder, but not Milner specifically (iirc). They started Reo-Coker on the right wing to start the season with Petrov and Barry in the midfield. They sold Maloney which seems a bit dodgy considering they still don't have an adequate back-up for Milner (!), and Maloney was versatile enough that he could often switch wings with Young as well. Baggio
Does he still need to be replaced or should we put our efforts into other areas of the pitch?
Taylor Swift
I'm still not sure about Gutierrez starting on the right wing when he just seems more effective cutting in from the left. Apart from his hair-style, his game - the way he cuts in and eludes players - reminds me a lot of Pires. And if he starts on the left, Duff's playing. If we could get a new left winger, that'd be fantastic, so that we can still continue overloading one side of the pitch. Jonas does good tracking-back on the right hand side and he's got the stamina and pace to cover his ground if we lose the ball while he's out of position. Dave
Does he still need to be replaced or should we put our efforts into other areas of the pitch? Duff's wank, so yes.
AyeDubbleYoo
We still need a couple more quality players in midfield, but that would be true with or without James Milner in the squad. If he was still here he would still need replacing.

johnnypd
Does he still need to be replaced or should we put our efforts into other areas of the pitch? Duff's wank, so yes. bit harsh, duff has been our best player last 4 games in total he's still been mediocre iyam. he does a very good job running around, closing people down and making himself available for passes, but errr, that's about it. he's actually beat one or two players but hasn't followed it up with anything substantial. TRon
Duff is being played more for what he offers going backwards rather than forwards. In any case we have 3 left wingers, we could do a genuine right winger. A real one, not another plank like Milner.
oldtype
love reading the Villa boards and seeing them do the whole "he's shit" "he'll come good, you just wait" thing over Milner. Let me save some time for you lads: yes he is pretty shit, and no he won't.

Magpie
Yesterday made me realise just how amazing the deal we got for him is. This. Cracking bit of business if you ask me. And as for the Villa fans going on saying he'll come good etc....they'll be saying it for a hell of a long time yet!!
fredbob
£12m really was a good deal - we've made a £7-9m profit on a player whos absence wont effect us slightly - if anything it means we dont have that young british bias on the wing instead of real quality. Just a shame his sale will forever be a reference point.
Guest The Libertine
Yesterday made me realise just how amazing the deal we got for him is. exactly. £12 million for him and jonas on the cheap as his (probably accidental) replacement is quite stunning. shame keegan didnt see it how we all do.
