Is there a requirement as to how far your advertising hoardings have to be from the edge of the pitch?

Would be sneaky if we could move them in a bit so Delap can't get a run up on his throws.

Not a bad idea that. Looking at Stamford Bridge on MOTD2, they're really close.

That's quite a sneaky idea. Remember Highbury? The hoardings were practically the touchline at that place

delaps throw ins.........i'm sure back in the 70's (stop fucking yawning) there was a long throw in specialist and there was bothere as someone stood in front of him and jumped when he went to take it,made the throw drop a few yards short which made all the difference. the ref tried to make the defender move back. the defender argued back and explained later to the press that he explained to the ref that the thrower innerrer has to stay off the pitch till he releases the ball so it can't be obstruction and there is no distance you have to be away from someone taking a throw in,unlike free kicks.

did this actually happen or am i dreaming it all up ?

I remember something like that but don't think it was as long ago as the 70's.

I think putting a man right on the touchline is pretty sensible.

Yep, and if our player gets clobbered by Delap as the momentum takes him on the pitch, surely it's us who should get the free-kick for a foul.

Unsporting conduct these days innit?

Is it? ???

I'm sure I've seen it recently where the referee told the opposing player to move away from the line with the threat of a yellow card.

I'd like us to go with the following:

                    Given

  Beye - Taylor - Bassong - Enrique

Jonas - Coloccini - Guthrie - N'Zogbia

              Owen - Martins

Wouldn't be keen on splitting Bassong and Coloccini up but I really want to see Colo in midfield and I think this would be the ideal game to go for it as Taylor would be useful to have in the box for Delap's throw-ins. Colo played a couple of very threatening balls through to Oba on Saturday and he just looks so good with the ball at his feet. Pretty sure he wouldn't be like Butt and pass it to anybody but his team-mates too.

Aye, that rings a bell, a season or two ago I think. No idea who it was though.

Had to laugh at Lee Dixon's tactical method of dealing with it - "Don't give away throw ins in your own half".

Along with "Dont let them score" and "Score at the other end", he could be a tactical genius that man.

Was funny as f*ck watching the Hull keeper. Was being closed down by the striker, looked to hoof the ball out for a throw-in, thought twice about it, and instead turned around and booted it out for a corner.

Guest palnese

start the game with someone like cacapa. His only task is to force delap to go of with an injury early on. then sub cacapa with someone actually good enough to play.. game won

Just move the advert boards closer so he can't get a run up.

 simple yet effective but I am sure there will be somer rule about how far back they have to be, I find it strange team cannot deal with a long throw we had that ability when he had that massive yank yet I am syre we never really made anything from his long throws..
