Crazy tbh, as much as I hated the welsh wanker, Bale is a world class player and they were never gonna replace him like for like at any cost.

Everyone wants to see their team improve year on year but there's been too many changes to create instant success. They'll come good if given time, but supporters demand results, just as any bunch would get frustrated at a lack of improvement.

It is however worrying for them that their penetration, final ball and finishing this season has been so suspect. AVB needs to get that sorted ASAP. One or two wins and everyone will shut up again. Sacking in November when you're 4 points off second place is beyond kneejerk like!

They already have.

Lamela is a totally different player to Bale.

Not that much difference.

9 goals scored in 12 games (2 of which being extremely suspect penalties) with that amount spent on attacking players suggests far more than a minor problem.

Agreed. They are not a great passing side like someone suggested. Good at keeping possession aye but rarely look dangerous.

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I'd say that if there's one area where they excel it's their passing.

I'm inclined to agree with Ian W - that there's been a bit of an over-reaction to a few bad recent results. Man City have the best squad in the Premiership and on their day they can give anyone a good hiding. As for our victory, we had a bit of luck and a keeper that was saving everything.

Spurs are trying to put together a new side so there are bound to be teething problems and failed experiments. But they probably haven't yet solved the striker problem. And the price for a really top class striker now seems to start at £40m.

Lamela has been awful so far. 30 million for him?  :anguish:

Watching Spurs this season, has been painful viewing.

All the new attacking midfielders they bought, all want to come narrow and short, and get involved in play, and hardly ever make forward runs.

Just a bunch of short passing to nowhere, while Soldado twiddles his thumbs in isolation upfront, before eventually starting to come short too.

The only width they get is from their full backs, and they literally never deliver decent crosses. Walker in particular is insanely bad at getting a decent ball into the box, despite getting in great positions, time and time again.

It's like they're trying to play the way Arsenal currently do, but have no idea of how to go about it.

Tbf he's hardly played. Give him a chance.

Aye Sunday was his first start  absolutely ridiculous comment.

He's started in the Europa League and watched him against Hull in the cup. Poor. Not saying he isn't going to improve, but for 30 million you'd expect at least average.

Problem with avb is he has the arrogance and ego of Mourinho but neither the legacy, talent or personality to back it up. Therefore he falls short in a lot of areas, but he doesn't see it like that, it's everyone else's fault.

But you can't throw the summer signings at him, he's no more say in transfers there than Pardew here, Levi controls the club, you cant praise him for when he milks clubs for everything they got then say he has nothing to do with the replacements, it just doesn't work like that.

Hope they sack him; cost them a fortune and it would be massively short sighted.

Not sure what money has to do with it.... players take a while to adapt especially South American ones coming to this country.

You would think after the Colo and Enrique fiasco people on here would learn by now that no matter how good you are sometimes it takes a while to produce your best in a new country.

The lad can't even speak English at the moment.

New league, new players around you. Not everyone takes to a new league like a fish into water. More often it's like water off a duck's arse.

Personally I'd give up to a season of regular matches before fully judging a player. Just look at the below-par performances of our own Debuchy, MYM at the beginning of this season.

do they have a LB?  was reading he'd sent assou-ekotto (sp) on loan to qpr 'cause he didn't fancy him and they didn't sign a LB hence vertongen playing there

i assumed vertongen was covering for him but apparently not, criminal to spend 100m and leave yourself with a dedicated LB like

Another 9 changes by AVB for tonight's game. Only Dawson and Soldado kept their place. I know it's the Europa but that's now something like 15 changes in the last two games. Never going to get players gelling with this sort of crazy rotation.
